Eight American soldiers and two Afghans have been killed in an attack on two outposts in remote eastern Afghanistan, the U.S. military said on Sunday.

A tribal militia launched the attack from a mosque and a nearby village in Nuristan, one of the most dangerous regions of Afghanistan, the U.S. military said in a statement. The Americans and Afghans repelled the attack and "inflicted heavy enemy casualties," the statement said.

In the U.S. statement, Col. Randy George described it as "a complex attack in a difficult area." The Taliban claimed responsibility.

not local yokels, community organizers.

Prayers for the soldiers and their families. Our young men and women should not be sent into harm’s way without full support, and definitely not with ‘rules of engagement’ that will surely end up with more totally unnecessary deaths.

The attackers wanted Chicago as the Olympic city of choice and they were pissed off at Glenn Beck. I mean Obama is not at war with terrorists anymore.

Nothing but prayers and best wishes for the families of these fallen patriots. Thank you for your loss and sacrifice.

As for YOU Mr Obama — stop playing your f*cking games with Olympic Committees and the UN!

Either ramp up deployments like the in-theater CCs want to do to f*cking win and stabilize the region — or pull the troops all the hell out RIGHT NOW!

Stop playing you indecisive community organizer games with America's son & daughter, damn you!

Firstly, I don’t think you can blame this on the President. It’s not like he wants this to happen. Plenty of troops were killed when Bush was in office, way more than under Obama. I suspect if Obama had his druthers and could do what he felt like, he’d withdraw all troops from Iraq and Afghanistan immediately, but that’s just not politically feasible. Thoughts and prayers should be with the troops and not on blaming someone.

That said, it is his problem that he’s doing things like jetting off to Denmark, laughing it up with with a gap-toothed pervert and having beers with Henry Gates while his soldiers are dying and his commanders are urgently requesting reinforcements. If he truly feels that the mission is no longer productive, then be a man, get on TV say so, and bring them home. But to just sit around and do nothing while this happens is intolerable.

More importantly, note how the media covers this. In Iraq whenever troops were killed it was the number one story on the front page. Every news show did these in depth profiles and sob stories designed to whip up resentment and anger at Bush. It worked. Meanwhile, we’re having record casualties in Afghanistan and I haven’t heard one story about anyone killed there this year. No front page profiles. No Katie Couric or Brian Williams sob stories. Letterman was mad as hell about Iraq. He had Obama on and didn’t seem to care that hundreds are dying in Afghanistan. Where’s the media on this? Where are all those anti0war activists who cared so much about the troops? Nowhere.

I’m almost torn because I know that a huge debacle and deterioration in Afghanistan would mean that Obama will be gone by 2013, but I don’t want to see the country and the military have to suffer to bring that about.

I wonder if President Obama can see Arlington from his house. 8 more of his soldiers died and he’s missing in action.

But that’s to be expected from a guy whose only concept of the military was probably buying a pair of khakis at Old Navy.

Maybe now is the time to quote the President directly from his book, ‘The Audacity of Hope”:

“’I will stand with the Muslims should the political winds shift in an ugly direction.”

The increasing fatalities have proven the current year as the deadliest for the foreign forces since the beginning of the US-led invasion of Afghanistan in 2001.

As of Saturday, Oct. 3, 2009, at least 774 members of the US military had died in Afghanistan, Pakistan and Uzbekistan as a result of the US invasion of Afghanistan in late 2001, according to the US Defense Department.

386 foreign soldiers, including at least 228 Americans, have reportedly been killed this year.

Despite the presence of the US-led International Security Assistance Forces (ISAF) in Afghanistan since 2001, insurgency has risen in the country.

Obama changed the Rules of Engagement in Afghanistan on orders from his bosses in Saudi Arabia. Our boys are sitting ducks.

Exactly right. My grandson is in Iraq, and will be leaving there Oct 8th, coming home. Yet, I feel he may be sent to Afghanistan after a few months, scares me. I do not want any of our children to have to serve under this worthless or whatever he is president.

Win this thing or get them all out of that Hell hole.

May God grant the famlies strength and Peace in their lose. Just sad.

Oh my, this is bad and heart breaking. Have you noticed when you see their pictures and bio’s, what fine men we are loosing?
Obama stinks, he is a selfish SOB. I bet he looses no sleep over our finest and best men and women sacrificing. Now that is real sacrifice.
Obama and Michelle have no clue to sacrifice and selflessness.
I am sick with what is happening to our country.

This is sad. God bless their souls.

CIC is asleep at the wheel. Sacrifice and tragedy like this is inevitable in war. But, the worst truth is that the CIC is actually not bothered with the war.
