Oh sheesh! With hundreds of Ex-Soviet scientists and help from the Pakistani and North Korean nuke-proliferators, getting the data to make a bomb is probably the easiest part!
Where is Captian Obvious!?

Show me what Muhammad brought that was new and there you will find things only evil and inhuman, such as the command to spread by the sword the faith he preached.

Don't worry, if Obama can talk the Olympic Committee into giving Chicago the 2012 Olympics, then surely he can talk Iran out of making a bomb. Oh, wait...
To: SolidWood
I get a big kick out of all the speculation, too. N. Korea good buddies with China, Iran good buddies with Russia, and we pretend they have difficulty getting hold of the means to build advanced nukes.
I think their "slow progress toward" is all for show.

the knowledge of how to take weapons grade fissionable material and making it go boom has been out there for decades...the trick is the making or obtaining the fissionable materials.....

Two years ago, American intelligence agencies published a detailed report concluding that Tehran halted its efforts to design a nuclear weapon in 2003. [snip]
A senior American official said last week that the United States was now re-evaluating its 2007 conclusions.
Ha! Like anyone believed the "American intelligence agencies" who were just trying to undermine Bush.

Well it IS 70 year old technology, how hard can it be?

And what is the news here? That the left is starting to realize it might have a problem...or...?

I would assume they do, you can get the plans for an atomic bomb on the internet. I wouldn't think this is news, unless they actually have a bomb.

Russia only cares about Russia.
Russia wants a destabilized middle east. They are sitting on huge oil reserves and they need the hard cash that comes with them. If Iran keeps going until they get bombed, and Iran can get off a few decent shots back, then Russia wins big-time.
That is ALL Russia cares about.

Information is one thing, engineering experience is another.
The USA built three bombs starting from basic principles in a few years of concentrated effort, it was the engineering, not the science, that held things up.
Leo Szillard saw a bomb within an hour of his learning of the discovery of the neutron. It was quite a while before someone turned the concept into Trinity, the biggest problem being hydrodynamics.
They’ll need to solve problems like “how do I machine a toxic pyrophoric metal that may go critical if I allow too much neutron reflectors near it” and “just how sensitive must the primary be” and things like that.

Senior staff members of the United Nations nuclear agency have concluded in a confidential analysis that Iran has acquired sufficient information to be able to design and produce a workable atom bomb. So?
We have the Messiah to talk them into submission.
