There is a remote, although gaining, possibility America
Texas and maybe Louisiana secede and the marxist in chief issue orders to bring them back.
Senior military commanders instead round up the reds (the "progressive congressional caucus" for starters) and put them on a couple of planes to Cuba.
Provisional military government for 6 months, then new elections for all congressional seats and the WH, incumbents need not apply.
Only tax paying citizens and veterans are enfranchised in the new Republic.
All amendments other than the original bill of rights are repealed.
"Dueling" legalized within Washington DC limits.
Problem solved
Seems we tried — and hanged — a whole bunch of folks at Nuremberg after WWII for “just follink orders.”
An American service man is SUPPOSED to disobey an order he knows to be UNLAWFUL IF he is prepared to bear the consequences of that decision.
If some deranged 2nd Lt. orders his men to gang rape an non-combatant 12 year old foreign national girl in a combat area are they supposed to follow THAT order?
I can think of hundreds of such examples and so, I would hope, could you.
Your blanket “OBEY” in your post scares hell out of decent, sensible people — and should.
So noted.
Yep.....he us the first Arab, er, I mean black President...
“Uh, no. He is spot on with this.”
Arghhh, matey. Let’s ‘ave us a mut’ny.
The officer corps will resign before disobeying orders. And that’s a good thing. If the American people don’t have the courage and wisdom to vote the tyrants-in-waiting in Washington DC out of office, they don’t deserve a revolution when the tyrants do what they would like to do.
A free country is only as free as our weakest 50%.
I share that concern.
Question: If the Constitution is the supreme law of the land, then who has the right to suspend it?
Surely not the President, as his powers as Commander-in-Chief stem directly from the Constitution.
Surely not the Supreme Court and their powers are likewise delegated to them by the Constitution.
Only the Legislature, with a huge majority, or a convention by The People has the power to alter or abolish the Constitution.
But IN NO CASE should the Constitution be “selectively enforced” as your method surly suggests.
#2 happened in New Orleans during the Katrina aftermath. There's an infamous video of the police at an old woman's door. They're shown beating her down and taking her revolver.
Do you still think it can't happen in America?
It did!
You are so wrong. An officer’s oath is to the Constitution. Not to the so-called “president.”
Oops, past my bedtime. Start the coup without me. Goodnight.
Thanks for the defense.
Damn, THIS ONE clearly hit a nerve!!!
The article was off the wall.
The military does not think that way.
First, generals are as political as congressmen. Their assignments are political, their promotions are political and they certainly never get to be at the top levels in the pentagon or become in charge of theaters unless they have the right people pulling for them.
I did not say they are repubs or dims, I said they are political, meaning that they learn early on which side of the bread has the butter.
Those in the lower ranks don't have the right connections to pull off a coup. It would have to come from the very top.
If anyone in government gets Obummer, the Marxist now posing as a Fascist, out of office it will be the CIA.
But they will do it by digging up stuff on him and giving it to people like Glenn Beck or the NYT thus influencing the next elections.
Actually, that is as it should be.
We don't want this country to turn into a banana republic.
That would hurt conservatives in the long run. When we put our guy in there, we expect him to stay there until the next election.
No problem.
Apparently it did.
Thanks. Getting a little warm in these asbestos BVDs.
LOL.
>We have the least corrupt military in the history of the planet and certainly since the demise of the Roman Republic.
>The military will not wallow in the pig swill that is the political swamp inside the beltway.
And can the corrupt and non-corrupt exist in Peace? Can the evil and good walk hand-in-hand? No!
Peace is not the absence of War, but the Presence of Justice!!
THAT is why our times are so unpeaceful here and now.
You might want to review some of the video taken after katrina. The National guard was going door to door confiscating all guns. Not just in affected areas but in unaffected areas. They did this by kicking in doors, entering with guns in firing position and forcefully taking the guns. The news interviewed on of the soldiers and he stated he would shoot Americans in necessary. If you say it can’t happen, I say it already has. I fear the military will do what they are ordered to, at least initially.
We need to stick together.
