These are the words used in a sci fi novel series called "Dune" The are pretty good reading.
The main character was deified, based on his consumption of a psychotropic drug that caused clairvoyance, called spice. It tirns peole into large worms with heavy use.
The populace of the planet Dune chanted " Mua Dib" inn worship of the main character.
We are making fun of those who pray to Obama.
The nuance is that they are all drugged up.

Maud'dib is Paul Atredies, of Frank Herbert's Dune novel. If you have never read Science Fiction, you owe it to yourself to read Dune.
