Attorney Orly Taitz files motion to withdraw as lawyer for Capt. Connie Rhodes
Columbus Ledger-Enquirer ^ | Sept. 28, 2009 | ALAN RIQUELMY

Posted on 09/28/2009 10:15:01 AM PDT by vikk

Attorney Orly Taitz, a national figure in the “birther” movement and lawyer for an Army captain who sought to stop her deployment to Iraq on arguments that President Barack Obama can’t legitimately hold office, has filed a motion to withdraw as the captain’s lawyer.

Taitz, who represents Capt. Connie Rhodes, filed her latest motion Saturday. It cites two court documents as reasons for withdrawing from the case — a Sept. 18 order from U.S. District Court Judge Clay Land threatening $10,000 in sanctions against Taitz and a letter purportedly signed by Connie Rhodes, which asks for Taitz to be removed as her attorney.

“In order to defend herself, the undersigned counsel will have to contest and potentially appeal any sanctions order in her own name alone, separately from the plaintiff, by offering and divulging what would normally constitute inadmissible and privileged attorney-client communications,” Taitz states. “The undersigned attorney will also offer evidence and call witnesses whose testimony will be adverse to her (former) client’s most recently stated position in this case.”

It appears, however, that Taitz didn’t sign her motion. Court records filed Monday state that the motion must be filed again because Taitz didn’t sign it.

Fine, but that does nothing about the current president, citizen or not.

I would at least like to know what Alan Keyes has to say about that.

Do you really want to know what Alan Keyes says about anything? He hasn't been sane in years.

"Who is in charge of vetting the presidential candidates?"

As we have all found out...it's the "Honor" system.

Guess that means our politicians and political parties are all honorable. Therefore, "We the people" must simply trust them.

We must all get back to work now (assuming you have a j.o.b.) because our honorable politicians require more of our money.

Jeez guys - four troll posts in the first 2 minutes 35 seconds? Are you on beeper or just using the same computer with modulating IP addresses?

Try being a little less obvious...

Lol. If Orly Taitz is such an incompetent nut, what are they afraid of?

"In my opinin, the secretary of states should be the defendants in this lawsuit."

In what lawsuit? What infraction would this lawsuit allege? Remember, there is nothing in the constitution requiring any specific act to verify eligibility.

I think the only case anyone could possibly have would be to claim that Obama is, as a matter of fact, ineligible. That the he, or the states, or the congress didn't satisfy everyone, isn't going to work. Suspicion will not work.

I think it's the need for instant gratification. People want results now!, they don't want to do the work. Instead of looking for a judge to give you what you want, someone has to do the work of finding the proof of the birther suspcions. There's no jumping to the end.

Of course, since the birther suspicions don't have much merit in the first place, it's exceedingly unlikely that any such proof will be found. But that still doesn't give you a shortcut.

"It is time for conservatives to distance themselves from the obviously unstable Dr.Orly Taitz. She has recently discredited herself with her near hysterical performance on MSNBC and this screed of hers is simply disreputable. She is a liability with which the conservative movement can no longer afford to be associated."

Let's make something a little more clear here, please. Orly Taitz is not associated with the conservative movement. Orly Taitz is representative of, and associated with, the birther movement. All conservatives are not birthers and all birthers are not conservatives. Thank you.

Orly Taitz is not associated with the conservative movement.

One could hardly get that impression from reading the threads here . One need only suggest that conservatives distance themselves from her to be disabused of that notion.

The only thing I'm afraid of is that she'll stop. Then what will I do for entertainment?

Mario Apuzzo is a good guy and is plugging away. His case is pending and the judge has not tossed it.

I know he and Leo have chatted based on Leo’s blog. Leo and Mario are doing this on their own dime.

The screeching of 'troll' around here has gotten as stale as blacks yelling 'racist'. Yawn.

In the alternative, without waiving the foregoing, it is almost hilarious that all of the newbies that signed up to carry on the birther cause go around calling long-time, well-established freepers trolls and telling them that they are Obama enablers.

Is it possible that the most persistent birthers here on FR are in the basement of the White House, in a rather successful effort to discredit otherwise conservative forums?

Go ahead, call me a troll. It's probably all you've got.

You are correct. So who has standing to secure proof and in what arena and how would it be handled?

State, county or federal?.... After being elected and sworn in or before? I can see any jurisdiction that has enumerated qualifications doing so if they aren’t met by the candidate as specified by that jurisdiction.
