There's A Reason Fox Is The Highest Rated Network
The Politicizer ^ | 9-28-2009 | Cynthia Meyer

Liberals scoff at any person who points out the obvious fact that the mainstream media is overwhelmingly biased to the left. And Fox News Channel, through the eyes of a liberal, is nothing but conservative propaganda. Cable news personalities on CNN and MSNBC discredit Fox, pretending that they haven’t been overshadowed by FNC’s success for years on end.

The simple reality is that, especially recently, Fox News has been the only source of quality journalism and reporting in the cable news realm. The numbers speak for themselves; Fox is consistently on top. On the evening of Tuesday, September 15, Bill O’Reilly’s viewership was 4,039,000, followed by Hannity, Beck, Greta, Baier, and Shep Smith—all above 2 and 3 million. The closest a rival station came to Fox was MSNBC’s Keith Olberman, at a modest 1.3 million.

So if Fox News is merely a “tool of the right” to feed the fire of the angry conservative conspiracy, then why exactly is it the most watched, most trusted and most successful cable news station?

Because it is genuine alternative media. Other cable news stations like MSNBC and CNN have apparently rejected the notion of the watch-dog media (lap-dog is more their forte these days)...

According to liberals the success of Fox News is that most Americans are stupid dolts who want to be spoon fed right wing propaganda rather than watch “real” intellectual news like on CNN, MSNBC etc.

Facts work the msm has filtered news for years and the fools who who don’t want to face the facts of life look for others to coddle them aka liberal.

There is another possible explanation.

Since Fox is the only news station even remotely conservative they get 100% of the conservative news audience while the rest have to split up the liberal news audience.

Michael Savage and other radio talk show hosts, tell us that liberals have disordered minds. Considering simple statements of fact as propaganda is evidence that the talk show hosts are correct, would you not agree?

That's OK. Besides how many ways can you spin liberal media? Oh, we should ask ABC, NBC, CBS, CNN & MSNBC.

Re Olbermann’s touted “audience share” - I doubt the figure given approaches what is given as MSNBC have yet to introduce truth into much of what they put out these days.

They’s lost their way in what media’s original goal was: To inform - with honesty.

You MAYBE right. However, since day 1 Fox was attacked for its conservative “bias” on the news. Now I’ll grant some of their political commentary shows are conservative, but their news shows? Compared to the fawning white guilt media, there’s really no comparison on who’s biased, just by what the FWGM chooses not to cover.

>>Contrary to what rival stations would like to think, the Fox viewership is by no means limited to a conservative audience—it specifically reaches out to those to are dissatisfied with all other media – conservatives, liberals and independents alike.

I’ve tried to make that point on some lib radio messageboards I’ve sampled, when they make the point that “libs listen to lib (progressive) talk, conservatives listen to conservative talk.” I’ll amend that: hardcore libs listen to libtalk but people like Rush, who has 600 affiliates (vs 70-80 for lib
shows) and huge ratings APPEAL TO EVERYBODY. Even libs and moderates listen to and call in to Rush, Hannity, Laura, etc. They do a good job and are entertaining and the facts are on their side. They don’t do Operation Change The Subject. This says the same thing about TV.
Fox News attracts viewers from all political stripes despite being painted as “rightie only”, “Faux News”,
“only appealing to wingnuts”. How about those ratings?

Now just imagine how successful a TRULY conservative network would be. You know...one that NEVER bows to political correctness, never shills for the left simply to get an interview, never ignores news damaging to democrats or the rest of the left. I would certainly like to own stock in THAT network.

Unfortunately they still get smoked by the Networks. That dynamic should get better over time as I think the Network audience is getting old.

... I don’t subscribe to or buy any newspapers. But I would if there was one “like Fox News.” The print media today misses all the “big stuff” ... leaving Pulitzers on the table and not reaching for fame, glory and ratings. There’s just the slow march to death. Imagine a newspaper with Fox’s attitude and editing. Would you buy it? I would.
