Germany and France did bailouts and Keynesian spending etc. they were always much more etatist and big government than we are. Healthcare is nationalised since over a century.
The whole political area is much more to the left than here.
Their “conservatives” are for “social capitalism” and at best like some “blue dog” democrats here.
The German “liberals” are like our “moderate RINOS”. Pro-business, anti-big government, anti-taxes. But at the same time socially liberal like our Democrats.
The new German Government will be more pro-Free Market than the previous. And more pro-Free Market than Obama anyway. But Germany’s system will still be pretty etatist and leftist as a whole, because it’s been always that way.
Hmmm...on the other hand, our gov’t has become anti-business, anti-free market, pro-tax, and not actually socially liberal but socially fascist. By socially fascist, I mean they don’t want us to just accept behavior that we may disapprove of, but they want us to subsidize and approve of it. I know they do a bit of this in Europe too, but for some reason it seems more sinister here.
This is the ongoing problem with all pro-leftist countries of the world: Some of the people of such pro-leftist countries may not like how its politics work overall, but it’s still what they have been used to politically for many decades. Because of this, the majority of people of such countries don’t fully embrace capitalism and conservatism on all of the issues. Such people are very afraid of actual political change in their country, so, as examples, their taxes, gas prices, and “red tape” remain very high and their health care system remains very crappy.
