Khalid Khawaja, a former Pakistan intelligence officer, who describes himself as a friend of Osama bin Laden, said he was aware of a German contingent and that there were a number of Swedish converts too who had arrived in Pakistan "for Jihad".
"The Europeans are there [in Waziristan]. The most dedicated people there are from Europe. They will do anything for Islam. They are not there because their father's are Muslim, but by choice," he said.

Wonder if an Amish village will show up next...
It won’t be long now, as Mr. Bobbitt said when his wife got out the scissors.
Last night a foreign ministry spokesman told The Daily Telegraph they were now negotiating with Pakistani authorities for the release of six Germans, including "Adrian M", a white Muslim convert, his Eritrean wife and their four year old daughter, who were arrested as they were making their way to the "German village". They are particularly concerned about the welfare of the child.Iran has a vested interest in causing trouble in Afghanistan and Europe. They are being held in custody in Peshawar after their arrest in May shortly when they crossed the border from Iran. They are understood to have left Germany in March this year.
German citizens, not ethnic Germans from my understanding. North Africans via Germany.
In the article, there' also a mention of a Swedish village.
While the article talks of "many" being born-Muslim immigrants originally from North Africa, there are also a number of "converts", ie native Europeans who converted to Islam. It is the latter I'm concerned about, since they can blend in better.
paging Mr. Hellfire....
Ping. Ethnic-European converts to Islam in terror-training villages in Pakistan.
They probably also would have better aptitude for conventional fighting. They know how to follow orders and act as a cohesive combat group.
This scares me. Europeans are not the stupid banzai charge type. One thing that really has me scared is if the Radical Fundie Muslims ever get together with Radical Fundie Christians. Outside of doctrinal differences, they share the same world view.
parsy, who thinks this is when, not if
ping
The article mentioned at least one convert as having been in the German military.
Islam destroys societies from within.
My first move would be to end their immigration and Mosque construction. If that does not work, those that call for Islam to be banned, just might be right.
Maybe it’s Dr Shatterhand and the Black dragon society.
I disagree here. Fundie Muslims have far more in common with radical Lefties, and would probably work well with Lefty terrorist groups. Points of commonality include the idea that the Individual is unimportant except as far as he serves the interests of the Group (whether the Group is the State or the Ummah is of secondary importance).
Blue, who thinks radical Christians and Muslims will join forces when hell freezes over.
lol...
I think EVERYTHING is in the doctrinal differences...
Every religion, government or man has the potential to be monstrous. Some are monstrous because of their doctrines and some are in spite of their doctrines. What I can imagine of what a “radical fundie Christian” might be like, I think would be completely incompatible with a “radical fundie Muslim” In fact, I think you just defined the opposing sides of the crusades.
Also, I’m not sure I would be all that scared of what some may define as a “radical fundie Christian”. Now Spanish inquisition types may earn themselves a look down the barrel of my gun, but those weren’t really Christian fundamentalists were they? not even radical ones.
Meh... not all religions are created equal nor are the “radical” members of each.
I expect that Somali’s from the Midwest also have their own jihadist village.
