What not to wear to a Medal of Honor award (Michelle Tarts Up for Ceremony)
Hot Air ^ | 09/20/09

You might think a posthumous Medal of Honor award ceremony would be a somber occasion, but not everyone would agree with you. Either this is an especially skillful photo shop effort or Michelle Obama has no clue whatsoever about the nature of this event. U.S. Army Sergeant First Class Jared C. Monti’s parents received the award for him. I hope they didn’t notice the first lady’s stunningly inappropriate dress, but that’s unlikely.

Regular “line Freepers” are not condemning her. Part-timers who only show up when there are easy targets you don’t have to think about are coming in here and trashing the Obamas.

Stick with the important part; focus on the hero.

Yeah, posting stuff that the Daily Kos will later quote as "coming from Freepers". Wouldn't be surprised if they sent some of them!

Frankly, you guys in the Second spent too much time skiing on your noggins for our tastes ~ give me mechanized Infantry any time!

??? 2d Batallion 15th Infantry *is* Mechanized, and was when I was there. Spent a good deal of time in M113A1s...

They used to get $50 a month propay and there was a ski slope on the kaserne for skiing.

Several of our medics went there for training once. That's where they found out about the Garmisch ski patrol and got assigned to that.

So you guys had mech? You were there AFTER I was Fur Shur.

‘at’s my surmise as well. The award of an MOH is entirely too solemn to kvetch over. The hero is due the presentation ~ and it doesn’t have a bit of difference how the attendees are dressed. Here’s a picture of Audie Murphy getting an award ~ where? who? when? but he got it ~ http://i41.tinypic.com/k3unwz.jpg

I was assigned to Co A, 2/15 Inf, 3d Inf Div (Mech) between 1974 and 1976, and was based, with the rest of the batallion, at 7th Army Trainig Center, Wildflicken...

Headquarters Company 1/15 at Harvey Barracks, Kitzingen, West Germany 1968/69

Got there just as they were standing down the Davey Crocket Rockets. Actually, they didn't stand down until AFTER I'd gotten a crypto MOS. Arrived as an 11F40 though. It was my pleasure to do a lot of service in Winter ~ was TC on a command track every single time ~ cold didn't bother me.

We went to Wildflicken (called it another name though) in July/August and it snowed half a foot!

Everything that this couple does is designed to reject protocol. Protocol doesn’t apply to them. They think they are Hollywood style celebrities.

Sheeh people, give her a break. She was dressed appropriately for the MTV award ceremony she thought she was attending.

LOL!! "Chickenflicken" was well known for that, being close to the top of a sizeable hill/mountain...

I thought I remembered the 1/15 as being at Kitzingen. Glad to see my memory hasn't failed me (yet...)

Trashing Michelle (a/o the Obama kids) does nothing for us

Trashing George W. and Laura for 8 years didn't seem to have hurt the Dems much--they control everything now. Not saying we should sink to the Dem's level, and the kids should by all means kept out of it. But unlike the Dems under Bush, we have very substantive objections to the Obama presidency that we are continually publically giving voice to, perhaps more effectively than conservatives have gotten their message across in a couple decades--from healthcare to spending to Obama's feckless foreign policy. I think we can be forgiven for taking a break for a day. Let people have their fun.
