What not to wear to a Medal of Honor award (Michelle Tarts Up for Ceremony)
Hot Air ^ | 09/20/09

You might think a posthumous Medal of Honor award ceremony would be a somber occasion, but not everyone would agree with you. Either this is an especially skillful photo shop effort or Michelle Obama has no clue whatsoever about the nature of this event. U.S. Army Sergeant First Class Jared C. Monti’s parents received the award for him. I hope they didn’t notice the first lady’s stunningly inappropriate dress, but that’s unlikely.

And with all that help, she still couldn’t find a pair of shoes that coordinated with anything she wore. Sad.

What she is wearing would be fine at a jazz fest or a nightclub. She would look fine if that was the occasion.

It was tasteless for at ceremony to honor a fallen soldier, as wife of the CIC, to dress like that.

Jibbit wears a party dress as if she's going clubbing.

why does no one advise her? or does she just not listen? i wore a similar cut dress (nicer print) to my mother's 83rd birthday--which was a luau-themed party... she really has no clue...

Advice on what’s appropriate ...

I think she should ask her MOM, for cryin’ out loud.

Whoever is dressing her must be getting even for a lot of grievances.

Let's praise the brave man who gave everything.

I agree...lets praise the brave men who serve our country. I just think the First Lady of the United States of America should dress more appropriately for the event. Just my opinion, which thankfully we are still able to express.

Okay, Lancey Howard weighing in here.... I don’t see anything wrong with Michelle’s dress. In fact, I like it. I see nothing disrespectful about it. This wasn’t a funeral, after all - - it was a celebration of heroism and patriotism and honor. Of course, I myself am about as far from a fashion plate as it’s possible to be - - I’ve often been seen wearing two different color sneakers - - and I know absolutely nothing about women’s fashion. But there’s my 2c.

Well put.

I used to live in Seattle. There was a (black) Baptist church across the street. They sang gospel and the sermons were shouted rhyming lessons.

The liberals never failed to stop outside my window and listen with a stupid-ass smile on their faces at the “quaint religious black folk.” Honestly, every time I saw those condescending smiles I just wanted to shake them by the shoulders.

This was their religion...not some quaint cultural attribute. The liberals had no idea how incredibly RACIST they were being.

I SO agree ... it’s stunning to see her wardrobe
selections, as a representative of our nation,

You’d think her humongous staff advisors would clue
her in about being involved in military events and our
honorable troops, yet she displays no decorum, discretion
or respective dignity .. in keeping with her position,
but most especially out of respect for the troops and
their families.

And with that many in her own staff, it’s how we know
for certain that this is purposeful ..another ‘in your face’
commentary illustrating that they could care less
about our country’s traditions or history. On the
contrary, they spit on them, and use every event to
graphically display that contempt.

And that when they said CHANGE .. they meant it ..
across the board and in every area.

But I’m sure Oprah and Valerie and the wacky fashion
writers approve .. /s
