It would be understandable for those who closely follow politics to have missed Republican Senator Olympia Snowes comments on health care a couple of days ago.
The second week of September was an unusually big week for partisan politics (and thats saying something in this day and age). Commentators on both sides of the divide sparred bitterly over the crowd estimates for the massive 9/12 Taxpayer March on the National Mall. In addition, the drip, drip, drip of scandalous revelations surrounding the ACORN prostitution sting further strained the lengths of recent political polarization. And as the weekend neared, allegations of racist opposition to President Barack Obamas policies aired by former President Jimmy Carter, no less had further dashed the longstanding hopes for bipartisan cooperation that followed Barack Obamas inauguration in January.
Given all that, Senator Snowes mid-week remarks on her place in a changing GOP might seem tame. Snowe, a moderate Republican and senior senator from Maine, stated that I havent changed as a Republican, I think more that my party has changed....

Is she saying the party has moved to the right? hardly.
Why not? I’ve already bolted her.
Box of rocks plus a liar.
I don’t think I’d characterize her as a moderate republican.
Seems to me she is kinda the senseless stepdaughter under the stairs.
Far as I’m concerned, all half-baked conservatives need to leave the rep party and make room for serious contenders.
Enough of reconciliation! Fight back or leave the ring.
Doubtful. Sen. Snowe saw what happened to Arlen Specter when he quit the GOP, and that was at the hands of his new party.
Please go, Olympia.
LEAVE US! Go to the dark side where you belong.
She can bunk with Arlen!
You bolted Snowe? I hope you had a bag on her head.
Any way the loser dims can insure a 60 vote.
you know... don’t let the door hit you in the ass.
Don’t let the door hit you in the ass on your way out, Olympia!
She should consult with the Snarlen Spectacle about the experience of becoming a full-fledged ‘Rat. Unless she enjoys her role as a media prostitute in dissing her ‘party’. It will be good to see her gone when the conservative train pulls again into the GOP station of RINO’s.
I was thinking of posting something, but you already said it so well!
“Far as Im concerned, all half-baked conservatives need to leave the rep party and make room for serious contenders.
“Enough of reconciliation! Fight back or leave the ring.”
If enough country-clubbers like her stay, the repubs will continue to fail to mobilize support, and the ‘Rats will have won it all by 2012.
Sen. Snowe, your unintelligible gibberish is the sign of someone who needs to retire. Don’t you have a home in the south of France you could go to? Somewhere?
BOlympia!
Who will the half-baked voters vote for then ?
And I’m not joking. There are unfortunate facts to be faced -
A. A lot of people who are highly unlikely to vote for a “true conservative” will vote for an Olympia Snowe.
B. A “true conservative” with incredible charisma and personal appeal could, maybe, get the votes of the people mentioned in point A., but such a candidate is the occasional and unforseeable gift from the Lord. We don’t have a factory churning out Ronald Reagans. You can’t count on miracles.
C. Since we can’t replace the people (or some of the people), who are the real problem here, then we must tolerate Olympia Snowe, or forever be marginal.
