Mark Levin was asked in an email today by Politico.com who has more influence, Glenn Beck or Rush Limbaugh. Mark's answer was clear (hear the brief audio at the jump).
The only thing missing when Mark said it was this music playing in the background...

What you said had nothing much to do with whether or not he is an intellectual lightweight, relative to Levin.
I believe that Rush is doing a service for the Conservative movment on a daily basis and has for twenty plus years. Beck is taking the Conservative message to a new level and actually getting people physically involved in taking back their government. I have never seen Rush move people to this extent.
“Beck is doing good work at the moment, but he needs to prove that he is for real... for the long term. I’ve seen so-called conservatives lose their way... then come back.. .then lose their way again. I’ve heard Beck call himself a conservative, a libertarian, and back to conservative... I think he is just now figuring things out. I like how he’s doing it.. .He’s asking questions... Levin has a lot of answers though... Levin knows for certain where he is coming from and why he believes what he believes.”
I understand where he lies. I am a registered libertarian but live my life with conservative values. I vote for and support conservatives, or whoever is not liberal.
There is room for all three, Glenn, Rush, and Mark, to share their distinct views on the airwaves. We need to hang together or we shall hang separately. I love Mark’s brilliance, but his churlish and petty jealousy of Beck is wearing thin. Glenn has never said one bad word about Mark Levin. C’mon Mark, the way you act toward Glenn is beneath you.

VIDEO: Keith Olbermann calls Glenn Beck an ‘uneducated, imperceptive, panicky wack job’
Unfortunately Levin seemed to get in a snit when Beck’s book knocked him off the best seller list and Hannity has not acknowledged Beck at all and, in fact, seems to be trying to jump on the ACORN and Czar bandwagon... Levin and Hannity are buddies and there seems to be a bit of ganging up... I wonder if Levin wanted the time slot Beck got at Fox...
Barry Farber is an excellent talent
Is Barry Farber on the radio anywhere now? I used to listen to him when I was in college. IIRC he took over from Long John Nebel on WOR in the wee hours.
Lacking intelligence! He knows more than just about anyone when it comes to American History and how it applies to today... you can dislike his delivery of the message, but there is no denying he understands the message he delivers.
>>Beck's been at it (for the long term) just not on a national level. I've been listening to Beck since 2000, and he's been the same. I'm always impressed at his overall grasp of a situation or scenario, he does his homework. He was ahead of the financial downturn, ahead of Obama's antics, etc. And even in his early days, he accomplished things by getting folks to rally behind a cause. He used to call for improptu rallies in Tampa, and people would drive to the radio station to demonstrate on the side of the highway for a particular cause. He's no flash in the pan, he's been doing the same thing for years.
The truth is, I still can't totally trust him still... he's out there saying what should be said, I agree with everything he's doing now.
The "character" he appears to be on TV doesn't totally seem real to me, and it keeps me guessing at where he's coming from. All entertaining people do put on some sort of extra character when they're on-air... Rush is anti-humble, and it makes me laugh... Levin turns off his internal filter and hysterically yells out funny (but true) insults at everyone, I usually laugh there too. (It is relatively minor, but I saw the you tube clip of Beck on The View apologizing for making up --exaggerating -- a story about a meeting with one of the hosts, it rubbed me wrong and makes me not fully comfortable with him.)
That's because they are both from NY. Anyone not from NY is, well, beneath them.
I can't stand Hannity anymore.
Radio is far more than just raw intellect.
You have to be able to hold an audiences attention sometimes for three hours. It's the ultimate test. And you have to do it with ease without looking like you are trying too hard.
Everyone has his own role to play......
In a time where the conservative message is being ignored by the MSM, we need as many conservative messengers as possible. Beck reaches audiences that Rush would never attract. Hannity has an audience has has a demeanor that is attractive to a different base. I don’t listen to Levin too much, but he has a different audience and a different tune. Of course, Rush has justifiably the largest audience and is the philosopher-king of them all.
Although they have different styles, a different message, they are still overwhelmingly conservative and the more that listen, the better.
Although Levin is correct in that a third party will never win, and will guarantee another Obama term, he should press that argument (like Hannity) instead of attacking Beck. It smacks of resentment and jealously, which is NOT a conservative hallmark. We celebrate success, right?
I think Rush is the best talk show host out there and I go into withdrawal if I miss it, but in the end, Rush is an establishment guy. He just didn’t like McCain. I think Levin is an establishment guy, too. That’s why he gets along with Hannity. I admire Beck for putting it on the line to save his country. I can’t stand Boortz almost as much as Mark Davis and I don’t support a NRST.
Now, excuse me, while I mourn the devastating loss in your picture.
Sadly for me- my schedule has kept me from hearing Mark as much as I used to- so I haven’t heard him on the topic of Beck.
My personal view- Mark has depth and a great mind- his intellect towers over Beck. I would prefer he not always jump on libs so ferociously- even though I am just as impatient with them as he :) I have learned more from Mark than any other talk show.
Sean is a nice guy- does a lot of good and probably attracts a lot of younger people to take another look at conservatives.
Beck has brought attention to some very serious and important issues and has done terrific work exposing the history of the left in America. I am unable to listen to his whole show- radio or tv. His personality gets in the way- it distracts me and I find his self-absorbtion and drama too much. But I cheer him on- and appreciate his work.
Rush is in a class of his own. Even when I think he’s wrong and don’t agree with him- he’s Rush. As a private citizen, he’s done more for the conservative cause than anyone I can think of..
Well done...great insights.
That's my problem with Beck. There just isn't enough substance for me. Also, I find Beck's style a little irritating with all the
