Former President Jimmy Carter is throwing his two cents in on Congressman Joe Wilson's (R-S.C.) outburst on the House floor last week. Mr. Carter is calling Mr. Wilson's "you lie" accusation towards President Obama during the President's address to Congress last week an act of racism. While these racism charges are debated, it should be noted that Mr. Carter referred to Mr. Obama as "this black boy" in August of 2008 during the last presidential elections. I uploaded this video at Media Research Center's Eyeblast.tv at the time.

There are more respectful ways of saying even that, such as “young lad.”
Ditto that ...
This is way off base. It’s obvious what Carter meant, and disrespect is the last thing you could get from his remark. It’s reactions like this that make Freepers look like yahoos.
Actually, “BOY” is not a term of affection, but a term of referring to a black male. The term became so offensive, that black jazz artists started referring to themselves as “MAN”. Thus the much used term MAN!
Nice try . It makes Carter look like the Yahoo . He said it . Came right from the mouth of his mentor Lester Maddox. You remember ol axe handle don’t cha.
As much as I loathe Jimmy Carter (an embarrassment for my state) he was literally referring to Obama when he was a child. This is a ridiculous video to reference.
Oops...
It doesn’t matter. You are not allowed to use it in connection with an American of African descent. It’s the roolz.
And if you don’t think that’s offensive, try calling a black friend ‘boy’ sometime...
"Ms. Pickett, Conservatism is a reason-based philosophy. When using logic to make a point, we consider the context of a situation. Carter's "black boy" comment was in reference to POTUS's yout'. Using this remark out of context doesn't help our cause; in fact, it puts us at the same level as those who use the word "Nazi" to mean a "mean person" ..."
Yep.
GREAT, just in time for our protest at U of MD Thursday.
Real good seeing you at the FR convention.
[Mr] T
I recall this.
I think Jimmah sees race because he is a racist.
Yes, there was still only the one comment when I went to the vide. Good point.
bump
Carter is racist because he said ‘BLACK boy’ which is referring to race and is therefore racist. If he had said just ‘boy’ then that would have been ok. I am surprised he didn’t say ‘COLORED boy’. He could have been more pc by saying African American boy.
Context does not matter because any context of saying ‘BLACK boy’ is racist.
Right on!! They can squirm all they want but he could have said young man and then refer to his upbringing. Where is MODO? is she in her office or working the corner?
Calling a southern white kid like myself, white youngest of 8, maybe chicken on Sunday if we were lucky enough to catch on (free ranging) and hand process the hapless chicken. Calling my class of white people Crackers(Carter was upper crust. He was referred to as “rich folks”) still pisses me off.
I had a section 8 tenant call me that once and evicted the prick.
I am 66 years old.
Too funny not to ping.
