Dateline NBC ‘To Catch a Predator’

http://tinyurl.com/m6ctd5

was a reality television show that featured a series of hidden camera investigations by the television news-magazine Dateline NBC devoted to the subject of identifying and detaining those who contact people they believe to be below the age of consent over the Internet for sexual liaisons.

Further spin-offs have included “To Catch an ID Thief”, “To Catch a Car Thief”, and “To Catch an i-Jacker” (featuring iPod thieves). “To Catch a Car Thief” and “To Catch a Baby Broker” are the only spinoffs that do not include Chris Hansen, but Victoria Corderi instead.

Fox should start a reality show called to CATCH AN ACORN!!!

Bertha Lewis

"It is no coincidence that the most recent attacks have been launched just when health care reform is gaining traction," Bertha Lewis, ACORN's chief organizer, said in a press release Saturday. "It is clear they've had these tapes for months."

These two could have just saved the taxpayer’s BILLIONS!

******

ACORN Could Get Billions from Democrats’ Trillion Dollar Spending Plan

“Job Creation” Bill Offers Taxpayer-Funded Bonanza for Organization Reportedly Under Federal Investigation

Washington, Jan 23 - The House Democrats’ trillion dollar spending bill, approved on January 21 by the Appropriations Committee and headed to the House floor next week for a vote, could open billions of taxpayer dollars to left-wing groups like the Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now (ACORN). ACORN has been accused of perpetrating voter registration fraud numerous times in the last several elections; is reportedly under federal investigation; and played a key role in the irresponsible schemes that caused a financial meltdown that has cost American taxpayers hundreds of billions of dollars since last fall.

House Republican Leader John Boehner (R-OH) and other Republicans are asking a simple question: what does this have to do with job creation? Are Congressional Democrats really going to borrow money from our children and grandchildren to give handouts to ACORN in the name of economic “stimulus?”

Incredibly, the Democrats’ bill makes groups like ACORN eligible for a $4.19 billion pot of money for “neighborhood stabilization activities.” Funds for this purpose were authorized in the Housing and Economic Recovery Act, signed into law in 2008. However, these funds were limited to state and local governments. Now House Democrats are taking the unprecedented step of making ACORN and other groups eligible for these funds:

“For a further additional amount for ‘Community Development Fund,’ $4,190,000,000, to be used for neighborhood stabilization activities related to emergency assistance for the redevelopment of abandoned and foreclosed homes as authorized under division B, title III of the Housing and Economic Recovery Act of 2008 (Public Law 110–289), of which—

“(1) not less than $3,440,000,000 shall be allocated by a competition for which eligible entities shall be States, units of general local government, and nonprofit entities or consortia of nonprofit entities[.]”

“(2) up to $750,000,000 shall be awarded by competition to nonprofit entities or consortia of nonprofit entities to provide community stabilization assistance […]”

The House Democrats’ trillion dollar spending bill also includes $1 billion for the Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) Program. CDBG funds are given by the federal government to state and local governments which often contract with nonprofits for services related to the purpose of the grant.

ACORN knows how to secure CDBG funds. Audit reports filed by ACORN’s headquarters with the Office of Management and Budget show that ACORN spent $1,588,599 in Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) Program funds from FY 2003 through FY 2007. It is not clear from these records when or from what source the funds were awarded to ACORN. It is also not clear whether ACORN chapters or affiliates have received CDBG grants on their own.

House Republican Leader John Boehner (R-OH) repeatedly urged President George W. Bush and other federal officials to withhold taxpayer funds from ACORN, including $17.2 million in federal grants awarded in December 2008 after numerous allegations of wrongdoing in connection with ACORN’s election activities were reported by the news media.

Leader Boehner also released a study of federal records in October 2008 listing tens of millions in federal grants received by ACORN. A new updated and more expansive study reveals that ACORN has actually received millions more than first thought. A review of the Federal Register and news releases issued by federal agencies showed that ACORN was awarded more than $53 million in taxpayer dollars. This amount does not reflect the millions more ACORN has received in federal block grant funds awarded to state and local agencies which passed them on to ACORN.

Indicted ACORN employees

ACORN 101: prostitution tax evasion illegal immigration child sex trade

The corrupt manner in which members of congress are protecting ACORN ought to bring clearly to light just about every member of the Congressional Black Caucus for protecting ACORN, as well as making use of their services, and topped with the 8.9 BILLION dollars they have set up to fund ACORN with.

Other congressional members including Barney Frank, Nancy Pelosi, even the President of the United States, have protected ACORN, defended them, made use of their services, campaigned with for ACORN, and now are funding them to the tune of nearly 9 Billion dollars.

http://hotair.com/greenroom/archives/2009/09/09/anatomy-of-a-shakedown/

Across America community organizations operate in impoverished, disadvantaged, low-income or minority communities. No matter the phrase used to describe the special interest, a group exists to represent it. Often these organizations initially have good intentions and seek to give back and serve the community in which they operate. When government money, power and influence become part of the equation however, lofty principles tend to fall by the wayside. Other organizations are created to cause chaos and disrupt the system.

The Association for Community Organizations for Reform Now (ACORN) was perceived by many as a well-intended organization, but it appears that the association that Wade Rathke founded was intended to cause chaos and disrupt the system when it was in a position to do so.

BEFORE the Dale Rathke embezzlement finally became public knowledge last year, John Fund, in “Grapes of Rathke: ACORN, a liberal activist group, comes under scrutiny. About time,” reported:

“Current and former Acorn employees say the problems in Kansas City and St. Louis are no accident. ‘There’s no quality control on purpose, no checks and balances,’ says Nate Toler, currently head organizer of an Acorn campaign against Wal-Mart in Merced, Calif. In 2004 he worked on an Acorn voter drive in Missouri, and says Acorn statements aren’t to be taken at face value: ‘The internal motto is “We don’t care if it’s a lie, just so long as it stirs up the conversation.”

"It is clear they've had these tapes for months."

So, what's your problem, Bertha if you aren't doing anything wrong? I will guarantee you they have MORE tapes to come too.

It's about damn time someone starts to pay for all the corruption when our tax dollars are going to fund you!

I agree. ACORN is a rotten organization. There might be one or two good ones, but they are few and far between.

While we are at it can we clean out the IRS too? They are filled with the same type of people, arrogant, lazy and stupid.

There is no way in hell they can be fired no matter what they say or do. And they do and say pretty much anything they please.

I meant there might be one or two OTHER good organizations in these communities but none of them are ACORN (or La Raza).

During our 912 protest on the main street of Fresno, California, a good number of the people who drove past us steadily stared straight ahead or drove by really fast. I wondered how many of them:

Taught public school
Worked at the IRS office in Fresno
Worked for the city, county or state
Were on welfare
Taught or attended classes at Fresno State
Were otherwise brain-dead liberals or completely unaware of current events

Sad...

“Why are government funds being used to pay for registering voters?”

This is the path Juan Peron took his country down. He got the desperately poor “descamisados” to support him, and Argentina has gone into the toilet ever since. Fidel Castro, Daniel Ortega, Evo Morales, Lula Da Silva, Hugo Chavez and Manuel Zelaya all used that template.

All of the above. You can spot ‘the type’ a mile away.

ARROGANT, hateful, demanding, stupid, and will pull out the race card in a heartbeat just like Obama.

“. . . it was an undercover expose with hidden cameras interviewing
some unsuspecting Nigerian guy. It’s ok for MSNBC to secretly
tape someone but not for O’Keefe and Hannah? Double standard?
You decide . . .”

Well, the folks at NBC (IIRC, that was originally an NBC Dateline
expose from AT LEAST a couple of years back)...hey, they are
“PROFESSIONAL JOURNALISTS”. (guffaw: in too many cases, that just
means “shill for any liberal/socialist/Democrat that needs assistance!!!”).

Funny how the MSM doesn’t like to mention their SHAMEFUL litany of
“professional journalists” that have bachelors or masters degrees
from “J-School” or “schools of communication”.
That have FAKED/Fabricated stories in order to sale publications.

Journalism surely is a test of a person’s honesty.

One that Sir Winston Churchill passed with flying colors.
With only an humble passage through Britain’s version of our West Point.

“They clearly have more tapes. ACORN are fools for saying anything.”

ACORN/CIO apparently didn’t watch FOX much in the last week.

The guy and gal were so cagey (non-commital with smiles) when asked
if they had more tape (IIRC, by Hannity)...they must have the neutron
bomb of journalism and are ready to drop it on ACORN/CIO when and
if needed.

Heck, it might just be a conventional MOAB version of journalistic
expose (on film).

(Myself, “VOA” felt like taking a shower after seeing the first
expose of the moral MONSTERS on the first tape out of Baltimore ACORN).

If there were any ethics at the Dept. of Justice (GOOD LUCK with
Eric Holder as Att. General and BHO as Pres!!!), there would already
be bugs planted in the national headquaters and major branches of
ACORN/CIO.

Even if just to hear the sound of SHREDDERS and Computer Disk
Scrubber programs FEVERISHLY operating 24/7 until no evidence
exists for discovery.
