Calculating a Minimum Attendance Number for the 9/12 DC Tea Party
vanity | 9/12/2009 | speelurker

I've put together a Google Spreadsheet with a calculation of a minimum number of people who could have attended today.

Density Calculation Spreadsheet

This is based on analyzing what the camera that was looking down Pennsylvania Avenue saw throughout the event. Here's a snapshow when it's empty:

Empty

Here's an analysis of the width of that street using Google Earth:

Another update from Michelle Malkin has this post:

Here is a link to a schematic of the national mall used to esitmate crowd sizes. It was used in references to planning for BO’s inauguration.

As a veteran NASCAER fan and A person who attended today’s rally, I darn sure tell ya...there was not 110k on the capital today.

easily a million...and that is not a stretch.

Looking at Malkin’s schematic and at that photo, the estimates of a million are absolutely on the mark.

Amazing. And wonderful.

Those aerial shots need to be posted everywhere and kept alive as a reminder. We are not alone.

I think we need to validate that that picture was really taken today. If you look at these pictures:

The weather conditions do not match at all.

Haven’t you been told that is a bad photo? It is from Promise Keepers in 1997.

A number of people have attributed that photo to a Primise Keepers rally in 1997.

“Amazing. And wonderful.”

It was a thing of beauty!

Have you seen the time lapse video of the march on YouTube?

I’m 44 and my 70 year old uncle kept telling me text this number. I told him hell I only watch the first couple weeks of American idol with the Wife and kids to laugh at the auditions, then I’m out. I could not text 9-11 if my life depended on it. My uncle ran down a young guy to ask him how do we do that, I laughed my arse off, and thanked God for my 70 year old uncle that fired up to fight the libtards on the Hill. Maybe I should learn to text my vote!

It was at half staff on live shot with MSNBC. See a recording here http://www.breitbart.tv/aerial-views-show-mass-crowd-gathering-for-march-on-dc/
starts at 46 seconds in.

..............I’d go for a hundred and fifty grand, but the one odd thing is that the time lapse has the flag at half staff, and the webcam has shown it at full staff most of the day. Odd, that.......................... Certainly odd that the flag position changed! Why, on the same day - Day after 9/11 mourning; after the Swimmer had been planted! Do we have a potential credibility problem???

I screen grabbed this shot from a photographer running Patriot Cam. I was following him/her the whole time they were "on air" (their images changed every six seconds) until they ran into some technical difficulties. I was surprised to see the flag at half-mast myself, and made sure I grabbed this image. You will notice on the time-lapsed YouTube what appears to be the 4 men coming into the image at :10.

You’re waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay off and if you can’t see that this is more than 60,000 people then I don’t know what to tell you. Just from my experience at the Capital July 4th celebration on the mall, where the crowd estimate every year is usually around 500K, this crowd is about that, or even more impressive.

Yeah, that’s what I was commenting on. Must have been raised to full staff around noon, then.
