Huge crowd, yes. But not two million. Even DeMint has now changed his first boast on this. Malkin is wrong because the police do not give estimates.
We were there and have seen a lot of crowds on the mall for inaugurations, July 4th festivities, marches, etc. Two million would not fit on the Mall in its two mile stretch.
Best estimate from experience? - 200,000 plus. For those familiar with the Capital and the Mall, the crowd filled the Capital west lawn, the area around the Grant reflecting pool, and west to Fourth street. It started encroaching on another group’s permit west of the Grant statue. It could be another 100,000 to 200,000 because they were forced to spread out along the sides of the rally because of the permit limits and the loudspeakers’ range.
It was a very large crowd, far beyond expectations, but too many groups inflate the numbers (mostly libs). It was NOT “tens of thousands” as the CNN NBC crowd are trying to say, but more like hundreds of thousands. BTW, the DC or Park Police do NOT make estimates, so anyone saying so is wrong.
Not bad for a rally organized by amateurs with no coordinating megalith like unions or the NAACP. Just real people. Almost ALL of the thousands of signs were handmade, not the fancy pre-printed ones handed out by liberal groups like MoveOn and SEIU.
I posted this on earlier threads. Now reports coming out are backing up my estimate. 200,000 (up to 400,000 because many were off to the side in the nether reaches of the Capitol lawn) is a HUGE number - four full Yankee Stadiums. Let’s not get carried away with the 2 million claim and give the left an opportunity to refute everything else.
And it was true grass roots. Almost ALL the signs were handmade, not the product of SEIU and DNC printing presses that characterize liberal rallies.

We had about 2,000 at the Phoenix rally. It started at 9AM and it was already 90 degrees. Ended after noon as temperatures crossed the 100 degree mark. I’m sure the temperatures kept the crowd down.
Real Patriots, we got several calls from Arizonans at the DC rally and were put on out PA system.
So many creative signs and dedicated Americans.
But, alas, Washington still is NOT listening!

I agree with your sentiments, to a point. It’s not quibbling when the difference is between 60,000 and 600,000 - no, that’s a pursuit of the truth. We will not relent until the Ministry of Propaganda treats us with a modicum of respect - and then even not then, until they can prove they have as many Conservative as libtard in their management (that will never happen - so you get the picture - we will never relent with these Pravda lefty liars at the networks.)
I was around the Grant reflecting pool. The people all around me were awesome as were the signs. And, yes they were handmade. People from all 50 states, all united in a purpose. I do not know how to estimate a crowd, but when my brother and his wife left around 1:10pm many others were streaming out, but many were still arriving. So, I believe that throughout, many were leaving and many were also arriving.
If you want to use the porta potty method of estimating, there was a block long row of porta potties. Somewhere between 50 and 100 porta potties. There were between 30 and fifty people, in line at each porta potty. So there were between 1,500 and 5,000 in line at any one time. The whole group of people waiting in line for porta potties were not even a drop in the bucket compared to the crowd size.

I think the president flew over the rally in the copter on his way out to his phony town hall.
My husband stood in line for 55 minutes to use the port-a-potty. He got in line before he really had to go, just in case. Maybe conservatives are just more patient people....so you can't use that as a measuring stick.

Hey guys, I’ve worked at NASCAR and the stands hold 1.2M. We had twice that many today in DC.
Also, the cops gave the estimate and Malkin printed it.
One lady was unable to get near the place so she kept on driving and joined us in Manchester NH!

It is said that one group actually did a count and they got 500,000 through their ‘gate’ or whatever... not everyone went that way though.

I’m happy with it! And especially in a recession when funds are tight for normal Americans (not the Obamas).
But, the number could have tipped closer to 600,000 from a number of eyewitness estimates and those with previous crowd experience on the Mall.
Plus there was the second rally that was 7 blocks away..how large was that one?

I’ve seen the march on the youtube video...and anyone who does see it will know there were probably closer to two million brave people there. I just wonder how many in mainstream America will actually see it?
I guess what I was trying to say is they’re going to spin it lower. I just hope the administration should consider themselves lucky they weren’t in DC at the time or were seen by ‘the mob’. The administration has to know they’ve got a groundswell of grass roots right-wingers against them. When the silent majority rises up, you know there’s trouble.
It’ll be interesting to see how Pelosi/Reid/Franks/Dodd/Emanuel/Gibbs/Obama spin this. I’m pretty sure it’ll be something along the lines of ‘pay no attention to the people marching on the streets,’ like in the Wizard of Oz with the man behind the curtain, or they’ll make fun of all those wonderful people. I hope they finally admit they’ve got a problem...but with these people, you never know. Maybe it’s time to march on the left-wing media outlets to prove the silent majority means business.
