Trying not to be a pessimist but it does seem that we are witnessing the demise of the greatest country known to man.

Good points. I forgot to mention the borders too.... I've lived near the front lines of that this whole time. We (not me personally of course, I have fought this tooth and nail, as a first-generation American whose family came here legally) allowed an unbridled invasion to occur already.
People who don't live near the borders or in areas unaffected have no idea how bad it is, and how many parts of the country are already newly 3rd world.
Big Brother's all over AZ with all the cameras and microchips, yet illegal aliens are untouchable while our own citizens are so harassed.
Tired, yes, I'm tired. I've been fighting this fight for what seems like forever, and things only get worse for liberty.

Fear, uncertainty and cynicism are their chief tools. Job #1 for them is your perceiving your own defeat and acquiescing having never lifted even a finger to resist them. This is what they are doing to us right this second.

According to the Bible, this happens twice or even by reason of a persons strength three time in a persons lifetime.
This last happened in the late 1970’s. Swine flu,taunting by our enemies, thruth falls in the pulic square, important figues become corrupt,staring at the economic abyss,etc.
The minor prphets say that God allows this so He can swoop in and glorfy himself by saving us all.
Keep the faith, things are going to be much better in a few years. Trust me.

Remember the movie, “Wag the Dog”...?
There was this super over-the-top Hollywood director who’d been everywhere and had done everything. Though he was a rich lefty tycoon of the first order, nothing seemed un-doable to him.
A repeated theme in the movie was this; they’d come up against some seemingly impossible barrier that would thwart their plans to rig an election, and everyone would be down in the mouth, dejected and defeated.
But with all his experience, this guy was completely undefeatable; for so long he’d been hyping boring crap to the heavens, making mountains out of modest molehills, and and surmounting the impossible that nothing could could keep him down:
“Are you kidding..?! This is NOTHING..! NOTHING..! Oh back in ‘53 when our STAR DIED in the middle of the picture..?! Oh now THAT was a fine doozy..!!!! THIS IS NOTHING..!!!”
He was geniunely amused and oddly jubilant through all this bad crap:
Each time the engine would blow and all the wheels feel off their plans, this guy was full of stories like that. And it was hugely funny and oddly re-assuring.
And you know what? Now I feel just like that guy:
I remember gas-lines, and being asked to PUT ON A SWEATER, and everyone hating us in the world. And that gnawing, unending malaise, and our hostages in Tehran, and the appearance that we were COMPLETELY FINISHED. There was all kinds of other stuff, like interest rates, but I was just 6 years old, or something, and so some of that was lost on me...
But then the Russians invaded Afghanistan, and the Olympics were cancelled for us.
And then LOTS of other bad stuff.
WHAT HAPPENED **THEN***, EH..?!
Well everyone here knows that...!!! And so I’m not so sad, see?
Really.

Jeeze! With all this whining going on, I’m losing respect for people who should be “in the know”.
We have access to more information than any previous generation-we need to put it to good use, not bitch and moan.
When I get depressed about my circumstances, I watch “The Grapes of Wrath”, “Pursuit of Happyness”, “Angela’s Ashes”, and others and realize I’ve got it great....and I admire the strength of the heroes in those movies-—some of you guys sound like whipped puppies, in comparison!!!!
BUT, if I DO lose my house, I’m gonna camp out in front of CNN’s doorstep with my poster, accusing them of the malpractice they have employed, and if someone wants to throw me a sandwich, I might just take it (just to keep my strength up to protest!!!).
Buck up, people! Fight these bastards....we’re smarter than they are, and, yes....we know how to shoot straight.

Watching old movies helps me a lot. Red Skelton, Bob Hope, Jack Benny, John Wayne, Jimmy Stewart--all those guys would be right here with you resisting all of this. Pop in an old DVD and chill.

Well thanks for such an intelligent well thought out response. If we only had more thoughtful cranial giants on our side perhaps we could recover and win our country back. Until you can contribute something meaningful to this thread, go back to doing nothing....

I believe you’re wrong. Badly wrong. We lost it and we lost it for good. What you miss out is the essential which is the people. We’ve changed.
First, it’s not the same demographics. Second, it’s not the same religion. Third, it’s not the same values.
What made this country great is missing today and it is irreversible.
