This isn't going to quiet any time soon.
Now Sen. Kit Bond (R-Mo.), a top member of the subcommittee that oversees green jobs, wants a congressional hearing on Van Jones, the Obama environmental czar who's under fire for his past affiliation with the 9/11 conspiracy "truthers" and for calling Republicans "a**holes" in a video before he was appointed to the Obama administration.
Bond just released a letter he wrote to Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.), the chairman of the Green Jobs and New Economy Subcommittee, saying Jones "is becoming increasingly erratic and unstable as reflected by incendiary comments and repugnant associations made public in recent days."
Bond says that Jones' membership in a 1990s anti-war group called Standing Together to Organize a Revolutionary Movement shows his "Marxist" and "Leninist" roots.
"Refusal to conduct an oversight hearing by the subcommittee would heighten concern over whether this administration is committed to mainstream, inclusive, positive leadership and policies, Bond writes. "While we may differ in our policy prescriptions to protect the environment and spur job creation, I hope you will agree that the Senate and our Subcommittee have a responsibility to ensure that administration stewards of taxpayer funds and government policy are capable of the jobs entrusted to them."
I’d like to think that my weekly chastisement calls to his office have had an effect! :)
I want to know how or if Jones got FBI clearance.
So what was Bernie’s reply? I haven’t heard anything ....& i’m not even under a rock
We all want to know that. I dont believe that the FBI or Secret Service would have missed his skeletons. It’s inconceivable to me.
At this point I lean toward one of the two scenarios:
Someone very high up ordered the background check waived. Or, the FBI or SS turned up all this crap, and the WH said thanks but no thanks, we’re hiring him anyway.
Thinking about it, the latter makes more sense.
I think the letter just went off. Give Bernie a few days.
What will probably happen: Jones will resign and Bernie will declare the matter moot.
