Now Sen. Kit Bond (R-Mo.), a top member of the subcommittee that oversees green jobs, wants a congressional hearing on Van Jones, the Obama environmental czar who's under fire for his past affiliation with the 9/11 conspiracy "truthers" and for calling Republicans "a**holes" in a video before he was appointed to the Obama administration.
Bond just released a letter he wrote to Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.), the chairman of the Green Jobs and New Economy Subcommittee, saying Jones "is becoming increasingly erratic and unstable as reflected by incendiary comments and repugnant associations made public in recent days."
Bond says that Jones' membership in a 1990s anti-war group called Standing Together to Organize a Revolutionary Movement shows his "Marxist" and "Leninist" roots.
"Refusal to conduct an oversight hearing by the subcommittee would heighten concern over whether this administration is committed to mainstream, inclusive, positive leadership and policies, Bond writes. "While we may differ in our policy prescriptions to protect the environment and spur job creation, I hope you will agree that the Senate and our Subcommittee have a responsibility to ensure that administration stewards of taxpayer funds and government policy are capable of the jobs entrusted to them."

Jones has been forced to issue a public apology, no less than three elected politicians have publicly called on him to resign, and yet, MSNBC and CNN don't believe that any of these indisputable facts merit any kind of mention. That is troubling.
Who cares if he called republicans A-holes. They ARE, for the most part. There are worse issues to peg him on.
Van Jones is only ONE of Obama’s czars that are evil, you also got Cass Sunstein and Holdren, those two are just as evil. Ya know what’s funny, during the campaign someone made a joke(Don’t remember who) who said that Bill Ayers will probably become the Education Secretary, now you got Van Jones and the others who are just as bad yet they are in the White House, not a shock, Obama is a marxist radical, these are the people he feels most connected to
I admire Sen Bonds for taking the initiative, & helping to make this stay in the limelight. We must not forget however, about Glenn Beck’s warning about “watching what the other hand is doing...”.
Whether Van Jones takes a ride in the tumbrel or not, is yet to be seen...but at least the truth has gotten out! We must not take our eye off the ball of this healthcare!

Agreed! This is what I am praying that the newcomers in 2010 will do...begin the impeachment process!
They should be calling for hearings on all of these “czars”...what are there, 46 of them now? All given expansive powers without the benefit (work with me here) of a Congressional review and, if I understand correctly, FBI clearances.
The reason Obama is using these “czars” is because they could not withstand said scrutiny. Congress, if they had six ounces of brain power among the lot of them, would realize that the “czars” are their replacements in all but name and do something about it. Isn’t self-preservation the main goal of Congress?
And the press, Glenn Beck, Sean Hannity and conservative bloggers aside, has failed miserably on this issue. As they intended to.

Sanders pretty much fits the same description as Jones without as many stupid public statements. Kit might as well ask Bernie to investigate himself.

Bond is just another stikning dirtbag .. trying to get mileage out of an issue that he was not willing to addres until it took somebody form the outside to get the electorate to take action. Where have these guys (congresscritters)and the rest of the “R’s” been the last 6 months. Not a peep. It took someone like Glenn Beck to see what is onn these jerks front lawn, walking onto their porch and getting ready to knock on their door?
