A high-profile White House official is apologizing for a series of provocative statements on race and politics, and denying he ever backed a statement suggesting President Bush was complicit in the September 11 terror attacks, which appeared above his signature.
"Green jobs" pioneer Van Jones -- who made his name fusing environmentalism with anti-poverty efforts in California -- said in a statement through the White House press office:
In recent days some in the news media have reported on past statements I made before I joined the administration some of which were made years ago. If I have offended anyone with statements I made in the past, I apologize. As for the petition that was circulated today, I do not agree with this statement and it certainly does not reflect my views now or ever.
My work at the Council on Environmental Quality is entirely focused on one goal: building clean energy incentives which create 21st century jobs that improve energy efficiency and use renewable resources.
The statement suggests that the White House will stand by Jones, who has become a top target of Fox News's Glenn Beck and other conservatives online, on talk radio and on cable news, which focused on his rhetorical attacks on "U.S. imperialism," among other targets and the allegation in some quarters that he is -- literally -- a "communist." The silence as Labor Day weekend approached had suggested that the ground was being laid for a quiet departure.
Jones apologized earlier for a profane reference to Republicans.
UPDATE: A White House official, seeking to explain Jones's signature on the 9/11 statement, says Jones "didn't carefully review" the document before signing it.
Nothing to see here, it was said YEARS ago
of course the White House will defend him, they agree with him. It says more about Obama and what he believes
Does this green-colla thug have a first name or is Van Jones his full name? Sounds like a last name.

What business retains a high-profile employee who doesn’t carefully review a document before SIGNING it?
This guy should be fired for that alone.
He is a down right pinko liar!!!!

if BULLSH*T was snow, we’d be in for a blizzard
Get the **** out of my government, you stinking, lying, communist bastard.
It must have been over a thousand pages, would take two days to read and two lawyers to explain.
(If I have offended anyone with statements I made in the past, I apologize.)
Yet another non-apology “apology”. Notice that he didn’t apologize for making the statement, only for having offended people! LOL! I am more offended by the slimy “apology” than by the statements! It just shows that he hasn’t stopped trying to insult people’s intelligence.
Van Jones, with all his race-baiting 'get whitey' BS, is a fraud
bump
Needs to be said again...
How much Carbon was produced having those kids?
LOL! It’s getting old all the lying about things they’ve done, real old. They aren’t fooling anyone.
Keep digging morons.
Only themselves. They've lied for so long they wouldn't know the truth if it hit them between the eyes. Lucky for us Al Gore invented the Internet so we can keep track of their lies for them.
