DAYTONA BEACH -- The men's restroom on the second floor of the Volusia Mall Sears is no place for children, police said Wednesday with the release of surveillance photos of a man believed to have made sexual advances toward a 13-year-old boy.
"Our biggest fear is children going into these bathrooms, especially with these predators circling around," Police Chief Mike Chitwood said. "It was just a matter of time before something like this was going to happen."
The boy, visiting from Illinois with his godparents, was propositioned two weeks ago in the restroom, Chitwood said.
The man was in a stall and slid toilet paper through one of the cracks. Then he asked the boy a lewd question.
"I guess that's what they do now. It used to be tapping their foot," Chitwood said, making reference to a 2007 undercover sting inside the same restroom, in which nine men were arrested and accused of engaging in questionable behavior.
The boy rebuffed the suspect, a report states, and, when the youngster came out of the stall, the man was waiting for him near the urinal and repeated his lewd question. As the boy hurried to the door, the suspect exposed himself and "began rubbing himself."
This Sears restroom still appears on a Web site that exists for men to meet one another, Chitwood said.
"They advertise these bathrooms," the chief said. "A 13-year-old boy comes to our city, and this is what they are exposed to."
He said a number of the men arrested "in the Sears bathroom we all know so well," are from the west side of the state.
During the 2007 sting, some of the men were local, notably former Daytona Beach City Commissioner Mike Shallow.
Misdemeanor charges against Shallow, who was nabbed by Volusia County Beach Patrol Capt. Rich Gardner during the operation, were later dismissed by a judge. A county judge ruled that Gardner's peeking at Shallow through the stall was an "illegal search."

Actually, come to think of it, the rest areas in Illinois were generally pathetic, at least, compared to the ones in Indiana.

A few parents should get together a beat the hell out of these dangerous perverts. It might discourage them JUST a little more than some lib judge dropping charges.
But Hollywood and academia want you to know this is okay because the restroom perverts have beautiful minds.
On second thought, I think you are right. Instead of “No Loitering” signs, Sears should simply post a map with directions to the nearest DNC or ACLU restroom. That should take care of the problem!

That's how they are in many foreign countries (well, those foreign countries that actually have public restrooms). Floor to ceiling partitions. Stall doors with normal door knobs. Wonder why ours aren't like this? Can't be that expensive.

It's about seducing boys into their sick lifestyle. They hide out in parks and bathrooms to promote their sickness.
They’ll watch grown men in the dressing rooms too and approach men in washrooms sometimes.
Not to worry because if projections for this year’s Christmas season sales are to be believed, Sears will soon be fading into nostalgia history and taking K-mart with them.

Only problem with beating the pervs, is the ACLU would have us in jail for “HATE” crimes.

This happened in McDonalds when I was there with the boys when they were small. I heard an odd noise in the men’s bathroom and shouted to the man sitting near us to go in and check out the bathroom quick. He did. A man was raping a seven year old boy.
NEVER let your children - especially boys - go to the bathroom alone until they are big enough to raise enough hell to get your attention. Gay men use bathrooms for sex.

The happened on Aug 15, 2009. From the article ... the boy went to the restroom while his mother ordered food. When he had been gone several minutes, his mother began to worry. Then the child exited the bathroom and told her he had been assaulted

A radio news report said the store surveillance had a poor quality picture of the guy, but an outside (mall?) camera had a good picture of him. It's posted in the article. This nightmare is happening everywhere.
Well, it turned out fine. One day my son came home and told me, “It’s official. I’m homophobic.”

Every moderate to large city has well known and advertised trysting places for homosexuals to meet up. In a north Dallas Dillards restroom, the homo-pervert got so bad that there was constant security patrol posted there. Very few interstate rest stop restroom exist any longer because of the homo-pervert problem.
