How brave this guy is. I bet he goes around kicking small dogs for barking too.
If it was my kid then the story would have read differently: “61 year-old man found stuffed in Walmart lobster tank”
My oldest was having a complete meltdown in a store a few years ago. several people walked by us while I tried to console her pitching a fit in the middle of the grocery store and not one person asked if they could help me. They were looking at us as if we were from mars and then the second one started in and before we could leave my wonderful neighbors call the cops on me.
Luckily I met the officer before at a community function and a few times at my daughters pre-school and he gave the kids some hand toys which shut them up.
Never shopped there again. I did all my shopping at the local “natural foods store” where the owner would give the kids free cookies when she saw us.
If he would have done that to my child, I would have maced him. I have it on me at all times.
Of course, I don’t put up with my kids throwing fits, whether it is in a store or not. They have learned from early on that it only makes things worse and I have never given in to it. To them, resistance is futile.
I’ve raised two kids and working on a third. If anyone had come up to any of them and slapped them, they would have woke up on the floor with some teeth missing.
Gramps had the option of moving to another checkout lane of leaving. He chose wrongly.
After this man pays the price for his assault according to the criminal justice system, I would counsel him as follows:
1. Yes, young children can be loud and annoying.
2. Foam ear plugs are very effective and very cheap; always carry a pair with you (I do), you’ll find them to be very helpful in lots of loud situations, not just crying children.
3. If you can’t stand the noise, and don’t have ear plugs, walk away.
Me thinks Roger has anger issues.
I would say a left wing radical whose nerves had finally snapped because he read Bozo’s poll numbers yesterday!
Well would you look at the mug on that face. It certainly does not spell kindness and tranquility./Just Asking - seoul62......
All stupidity aside (and I hope the bystander kicked his hiney), it’s just going to make the 2 year old cry MORE.
It has never occurred to me to slap an unruly child in WallyWorld, but the thought of coming up behind a tribe of wild Indians with an air horn has certainly put a smile on my face!
Kids cry for a reason, they are tired, hungry, not feeling well, sick, scared, uncomfortable, gas, needs a diper change...NOT to be a pain in the butt, unlike some adult passangers. YOU DON’T HIT little kids, especialy one the are not yours.
On a flight from Omaha to Newark a women with three small kids had her hands full, the youngest would not stop crying, nothing helped, too many tired wound-up kids and not enougth mommy.
I told her I would handle it, I picked him up, he looked at me, burped put his head down and slept to Newark. I was more surprised than anyone, I just did what I had seen my Mom and Sisters do, seemed to work.
Were it one of my kids or grand kids I guarantee that Mr. Stephens would never hear a crying kid or walk down a flight of stairs without painfully recalling, in some subconscious Pavlovian response, the incident that immediately followed striking that child.
I’m about the same age as this guy. I also have a two year old granddaughter. He should thank the Good Lord that he didn’t slap my granddaughter.
I am one of the nicest, calmest, and mildest mannered people you could ever know.. but there is a downside lurking somewhere deep. Flat out, if that was my kid, I would have killed that man.
Years ago, while standing in line at a grocery store, the baby behind me was absolutely screaming. The mom acted like a bit indiffernelty. The guy behind her loudly exclaimed to her; “Hey lady, you’ve got an ugly baby!”
At which point the mom started to cry.
sad
Somebody else's two-year-old.
And a lot of parents who do believe in spanking do not believe in slapping childrens' faces. (My parents when I was a rugrat, for example...) Roger was waaaaaaaay out of line. He butted in where he had no business and assaulted someone else's kid whose biggest crime may have been that he didn't get a nap and was worn out.
That is kinda funny, but of course the guy needs an asskicking anyway.
Should’ve slapped the mother.
How the hell did he get away with slapping the child multiple times? I can see once, because no civilized human being would think he would hit a baby. But after the first time? Shame on the mother for not beating him down immediately.....she sounds neglectful to me.
That's the funniest damn thing I've heard this morning.
