Interesting read, although the piece could have used some editing. “Team parties”?

poor, jet-black Punjabi immigrant

I don't think VDH is familiar with India. Not very many jet-black people in Punjab.

Other parts of India, sure, but not the Punjab.

We learned one thing: going WAY Left in terms of politics is asking for trouble, as the fiasco with H.R. 3200 all too clearly demonstrates with all those raucous "townhall" meetings.

I still think President Obama will eventually come to his senses and realize that the best way to grow the economy is to change our tax laws to encourage more personal savings and capital investment staying in the USA.

3) There is no more media. The New York Times, the Washington Post, NBC, CNBC, NPR, etc. are ministries of truth for Obama.

VDH is so correct about the news media

I watched video of yesterday's Steffi show, (because of the appearance of Liz Cheney), and actually heard Gwen Ifill say that the Townhalls have gotten so much publicity because there have been no shark attacks or hurricanes on which the media could focus. The townhalls "filled a void this August."

She was not being ironic or sarcastic!! Libs have no sense of humor. She was demonstrating her leftist brain lock.

We now witness Rep. Charles Rangel, who not only somehow on a congressman’s salary compiled hundreds of thousands in cash in various accounts, but also seems to have skipped out on almost every conceivable tax on such lucre. We know the tired story of Treasury Secretary Geithner, who not only skipped his FICA taxes, but pocketed the cash allowances allotted precisely for them. Whether a Chris Dodd or Tom Daschle, the story is the same — insider perks from low interest mortgages to free limousine service were never reported and never taxed.

There are two ways of making sense of this paradox. One, such liberals assume that their cosmic humanitarianism and brotherly egalitarianism exempt them from following mere mortal laws (e.g., as in “We are so divine on the important stuff that we deserve a pass on small, insignificant matters”.)

This is why these shallow corrupt men are the first to scream "racism". Taking on the KluKluxKlan ( in their minds ) become the reason and excuse for them so they can steal from their fellow citizens.

These deluded liberals are "functioning at such a high level - mere laws don't apply to them". So the predictable thin skinned freak out that happens when any black person is "dissed" becomes the moral equivalent in their minds of a lynching. Without the bogus mantra of being protectors against the Klan, they have no excuse for their criminal behavior.

The press uses the same excuses for their extreme bias and hatred toward their fellow citizens. Raines of the New York Times was falling on his sword for upper class women and some Country Club deal - acting like it was the same as defending people being denied the vote in a racist 50 's south.

These self serving games by the liberal elite would be funny if they weren't so destructive to the culture.

“These gifted souls are like Plato’s Guardians —Übermenschen, trained at places like Harvard Law School, with government service at the Fed, years at this or that Cabinet post, or tenure in Congress under their belts, veterans of brief university postings. We are blessed with Geithners, Daschles, Obamas and others, and so can hardly demand they be bothered with minutiae like taxes, or following bureaucratic regulations governing gifts, whether Tony Rezko’s land deals or Friends of Angelo loan perks.”

This is the European way. Europe was always less egalitarian and less democratic than us. That became an entrenched technocracy with the advent of the European Union. We are headed that way with unelected, not vetted Czars.

Similar to Glenn Beck’s series of shows last week discussing the czars and the lies of this administration. Don’t trust anything out of Washington especially if it comes from the White House or anybody tied to the White House. It is most likely a lie.

Oh yes, we may all be on the government take with mortgage deductions, Medicare, and Social Security, but that does not mean we like socialism.

No, people aren't on the government take because they may avail themselves of a mortgage deduction. Only a simpleton wouldn't take advantage of a small mitigation in the outright theft of their income to fund overwhelmingly leftist causes.

Medicare and Social Security have been funded by further theft, paycheck by paycheck, by government fiat over which the income producer has no control, and has never had control.

VDH mentions 0bama’s numbers tanking. There is actually quite a bit more going on underneath that fact, namely that the media he depended upon for his accession to power haven’t deserted him, but their own influence seems suddenly to have fractured along ideological fault lines leaving the media stranded across a river of mistrust from the bulk of center-right America. That isn’t a gap that seems likely to close in the near future, and they brought it upon themselves. Expect them to become more strident, more insistent, and more mendacious as his numbers continue to drop. They’re losing it, they know they’re losing it, and the same old tricks aren’t going to bring it back.

Obama's policies, all without exception, poll badly. His own approval ratings are tanking faster than almost any president in recent history. Oh yes, we may all be on the government take with mortgage deductions, Medicare, and Social Security, but that does not mean we like socialism. Again, we are in a race for America: how fast can Obama get his agenda through before his own unpopularity dooms it? I think he is just one more, but clearly has one more, setback away from failure.
