In ten days (I'd say ten short days, but this time of year the days are never short enough), Ohio State will open its 2009 season with a home game against the United States Naval Academy. It will mark the first time these two teams have faced each other since the 1981 Liberty Bowl, which the Buckeyes won, 31-28. Prior to that, Ohio State and Navy hadn't played since 1931.
Ohio State University wants its fans to know that this isn't exactly the Kentucky School of Turfgrass Management that's coming to town. The Midshipmen are giving up a minimum of four years of their postgraduate life serving this country in harm's way and face a brutal class load off the field. Consequently, they deserve a better treatment than hearing "YOU SUCK, 23" from five directions at once. OSU has a YouTube video saying as much (video after the jump).

In the interests of full disclosure, Dad played for Woody and was on the first Rose Bowl team (’54 season IIRC).
Ohio State fans (not all but many) are some of the most rude, classless douche bags in College Football.
Florida plays Charleston Southern and Troy
Georgia plays Tennessee Tech
LSU plays Tulane and Louisiana Tech
Kentucky plays Miami of Ohio
Tennessee is playing Western Kentucky and Ohio University.
They all play a "weenie" out of conference schedules. Say what you want about SEC vs. Big Ten, I can't argue with that. But Ohio State at least scheduled USC this year. I know they were killed last year, but they did schedule the team. They have played Texas in scheduled non-conference play. They played Washington which was ranked high when they scheduled it. You can't blame their poor performance the year they played them on Ohio State. It's just the way it happened.
Ohio State plays Miami of Florida 2010 & 2011, and Cal in 2012. Ohio State does play some non-pushover teams on it's schedule.

My University played several of the service academies during my student days and there never once was a hint of disrespect.
And this was during Vietnam.

Before Georgia gets to TN Tech, they play in order:
Oklahoma St, South Carolina, Arkansas, Arizona St, LSU, Tennessee, Vanderbilt and Florida. Not much of a fluff schedule there..........
Despite how Woody went out, he was a great American, and a good Republican. He also taught history at OSU, because it was a subject he was passionate about.
I’ve been to a couple bowl games, and believe me, there are worse. U of Miami fans seriously suck. A bunch of us basically had to back down some Miami fans who were harrassing a dad with his 6 year old son before the 2002 National Championship. To be fair, some Miama fans helped. The Miami fans had had a VERY hogh thug ratio, though.
Texas fans are by and large VERY cool. And the ladies...
I’ll bet that the average IQ of the Navy team (or any of the service academies for that matter) is double that of the OSU team.
Despite what you think of him toward the twighlight of his career Woody Hayes was a real class act(And I was raised an Iowa Hawkeye/Iowa State Cyclone fan). He was in the US Navy is WW II.
Michigan didn’t respect Appalachian State either. Ask Lloyd Carr how that is working out if you can find him.
