The Power Of Love
The Lord your God in your midst, the Mighty One, will save; He will rejoice over you with gladness, He will quiet you with His love. Zephaniah 3:17
The documentary film Young@Heart gives a rollicking look at a senior chorus of 24 singers whose average age is 80. Filled with humor and poignant moments, the film includes this remarkable singing groups deeply moving performance at a New England prison. When the concert concludes, the singers walk into the audience, greeting the surprised prisoners with handshakes and hugs.
The inmates unexpected amazement at this personal touch reminds me of the book of Zephaniah in which the prophet brings a powerful message of Gods presence and love to His people during a dark time: The Lord your God in your midst, the Mighty One, will save; He will rejoice over you with gladness, He will quiet you with His love, He will rejoice over you with singing (3:17).
According to Bible teacher Henrietta Mears, Zephaniah begins with sorrow but ends with singing. The first of the book is full of sadness and gloom, but the last contains one of the sweetest songs of love in the Old Testament.
Gods love for us is always astonishing, especially when it touches us at a low ebb of life. During our darkest times, the Lord comes to us with His joy, His love, and His song..
If your heart is filled with sadness,
Or you struggle with despair,
Turn to God, wholl bring you gladness
When you sense His love and care. Sper

Greetings to all the Freeperas out there in Canteenland this fine August Friday. Time to get the Friday Flyby off the ground. Last weekend was the Kansas City Airshow and I was able to attend, ably assisted by my youngest daughter and two of the grandkiddes. Once again the weather for August was delightful, it didn't even get hot until about 3pm.
Unfortunately the Blue Angeles or Thunderbirds were not in attendance this year, but their place was filled quite well by the Lima Lima Flight Team. There was about 6 hours of flying acts at a fairly steady pace and a good time was had by all. So on with the pics...
The Golden Knights where in attendance this year and the winds, unlike last year, were favourable for the Knights do do all of their act. The show opened with the Golden Knights doing the US Flag jump, followed by the Missouri state flag and the POW_MIA flag.
The first airplane act was Bill Leff with his polished aluminum T-6 Texan. Bill Leff had an eventful flight to Oshkosh back in 2007 when the T-6 Texan lost power and he had to put down on the interstate highway. Bill had to land short and bounce over a Highway Patrol car due to the traffic. You can see a dash cam video of it here. (TEXANBOUNCE) I was able to snag a couple of pics of Bill's Texan.
Next up was Dr. Ray Vetsch and his Turbo Shark Sukhoi. The Sukhoi aerobatic plane comes with a 300 or so horsepower engine which give the Sukhoi a great power to weight ratio. But the stock Sukhoi was to tame for Dr Vetsch so he had a 750hp turboprop installed in the plane, yowseers. The Turbo Shark can take off in about 100ft on a good day and had just fantastic performance. First up a shot of the Turbo Shark taxing out to the runway.
Here is shot of Dr Vetsch as he zips by the air show.
More pics tomorrow night, have a great weekend out there and we will see ya tomorrow.
Regards

I have no idea yet how his fish fry went but suspect it was a disappearing disaster. I'll find out tomorrow when he shows up hungry and a couple pounds lighter.
He's actually proud of the fact he's losing weight....which is an indication of his cooking skills.
