A comment made over the weekend by Sioux City businessman Bob Vander Plaats has sparked a war of words between the Republican gubernatorial candidate and the state Democratic Party chair.
While criticizing national Democrats plans for health care reform at a dinner hosted by Black Hawk County Republicans on Sunday night, Vander Plaats said Thats why (President) Barack Obama has been really, really good for two industries guns and ammunition.
Iowa Democratic Party Chair Michael Kiernan called the comment outrageous, irresponsible and very dangerous. He also demanded Vander Plaats retract the statement and disavow such inflammatory speech in the future.

You find bad apples in every barrel. They people I served with by a vast majority would not follow the unlawful order to disarm American citizens. Hence zerOs civilian defense force. Really makes you wonder whats coming?

If I had the time to waste at one of his speeches, I'd be stockpiling beans to eat before the speech. Might as well give the listeners a coordinated multi-sensory experience.
What a shock they’re in for. Because they are cowards who can only imagine govt agents getting bloody knuckles, they think everybody is like them.
Nothing clears out a room like an SBD -
When we run out of aggressors we’ll be sure to see them as the culprits.
Just because you're late for the party doesn't mean everyone else is.
Huh?????
I was commenting on the people stockpiling ammo today.
I know people who have been into guns for 40 years who are hoarding, along with those who are new to the sport such as myself.
But we both know this is simply you picking a fight with me once again. Puerile does not begin to describe you.
Please do not respond to my posts anymore.
Have a good day.
Apparently.
“I reject this whole oops I lost em [wink][wink][nudge][nudge] concept.”
I completely agree.
I didn’t. I have less than I had two years ago but the amount I alreay had should still see me through to the next election.
The recovery will start if we take back the Senate and the Congress. The ammo problem won’t end until prices start to roll back with supplies on the shelf.
I’m going with a friend this morning to a gunshow to sell off some guns. You know, buy low, sell high. What a concept.
It’s getting time to dig them up.
I think I’ll take some out to the lease next week and check those zeros.
My buddy just called to go to the show. We’re selling lamenated stocked Mini-14’s.
I suppose I shouldn’t have bought as many rifles as I have since I don’t have the room. I don’t have as many pistols and revolvers as I want.
When it’s freezing cold and you’re all bundled up, it’s very hard to draw from a holster. That’s why they’re selling boatloads of those small .357 snub revolvers.
The first house I had was heated with one of those monstrous oil burners that was converted from coal. I kept the house until I realized a warmer climate made more sense.
three a year, fall/winter/spring
i left St.Croix to move back to ny, and one way or another, i'll die here.
i've heated with oil since i bought this house in 2000 until last winter when i switched to a coal/wood stove.
i just filled my fuel bunker with kerosene this week $2.55gal
it was $1.15 in 2000
I wonder if liberals are buying guns and ammo?
Can any one comment?
