BOSTON (Reuters) - Senator Edward Kennedy's death marks the twilight of one of America's most fabled political families, with no heirs to the Kennedy name poised to emerge with the same mix of gravitas, ambition and celebrity. Kennedy, 77, one of the most effective lawmakers in U.S. history and the brother of assassinated President John F. Kennedy, died late on Tuesday after battling brain cancer.

This would be interesting. Caroline lives in New York, but would she switch her legal residence to become a Senator from Mass.? we’ll see.
After her embarassing listening tour campaign to be a Senator from New York, would Caroline even be interested in this? Wouldn’t it look like shameless self-promotion if she did this?
jeez, you can’t swing a dead cat without hitting one:
Kennedy Townsend in MD
Joe Kennedy here in MA
Patches down in RI
RFK Jr on wherever there is a live camera.
Caroline down in NYC.
There are a bunch of others. We will have hangers-on for decades to come. When you see one in public, there are a dozen in the walls.
They are “dissing” Ted’s son Patrick Kennedy, who in the House as Congressman representing the 1st Congressional District of Rhode Island
Is that supposed to be a joke? Alas, the "swimmer" will be placed on a pedastal and remembered with teary eyes fondly by those he decieved and betwitched.
'Down in NYC' sounds so strange to my ears.
Out here, NYC is clear across the other side of the planet to the East as far as we're concerned.
William Kennedy Smith, looking for love in all the wrong places..
If only it were true... But like horseshoe crabs and cockroachs [their intellectual and moral superiors], Kennedys NEVER go away... or evolve further.
That would the Obamas, Scamalot 1
Oh, there is lots more fun, further east than the Hudson. Almost downright beautiful. The air is clear, the water is cool, and there are Dems and Rino’s behind every bush.
Of course he was whisked away and after a short stay in drunk tank was declared cured.
Isn't he still stumbling around D.C?
William Kennedy Smith has name recognition. That’s always helpful if you’re trying to run for office.
You’re describing “Patches” (still Congressman from Rhode Island). He also got in the news for attacking a security guard who was just doing her job at LAX (I think she was fired as a result).
Yep — that’s Ted’s son, Patrick. I guess he just doesn’t have the “mix of gravitas, ambition and celebrity” necessary to pick up the flag. Maybe he got all the bad Kennedy traits and none of the good ones.
Spoof of Clarence Carter’s 1970s hit Patches

parody lyrics by me
My father was a drunk old man
I could see him with the Chivas in his hand
He put a blonde in the pond
Didn’t think he did anything wrong
Never spent any time in jail
Got re-elected without fail
Oh life’s not easy for a Kennedy
The booze and the broads and the pills you see
One night Daddy took me to his dyin’ bed
Poured himself a Chivas and with tears he said
He said, Patches I’m dependin’ on you son
To pull the family through
My son it’s all left up to youu
I can’t speak for others, but today I feel so much lighter knowing fatso can no longer add the burden of trillions of dollars more debt to be carried on the backs of taxpayers.
I am not sorry one bit that he is dead.
LOL!
Meanwhile, the Bush's are much more representative of the moniker. Prescott was a WW1 vet and Senator, 41 was the youngest Navy pilot of WW2, Congressman, CIA Director, Diplomat to China, VP and President. 43 was a pilot in the ANG, admitted he had issues with booze and drugs but cleaned himself up to become Governor of the 2nd largest state and two term President, his other son was Governor of the fastest growing state in the country and has desires of future office.
No contest.
