"If, the postings of his admirers are to be believed, he'll only be there three days."

Help. On what authority? Excuse me, but I read 5 US Code 51312 abd 5313 Levels I and IIm, and I don’t see his being a Senator as a condition of eligibility.

Found from a 2008 thread (don't know the source quoted but sounds feasible):

To be buried in Arlington Cemetery a person must have one of these qualifications: they must have died in a war, have been an honorable discharged winner of the air force cross, or the distinguished service cross,or the distinguished service medal. If you have the medal of honor, navy cross, purple heart, or a silver star you can be buried in the cemetery. A person could also be buried in Arlington if they are a certain disabled veteran or a member of armed forces who served long enough to be officially retired. Anyone who was in a federal office or in a cabinet level position or anyone who was in the Supreme Court can also be buried here.

in 1968 if you had 91 or more days to go at DEROS from Vietnam, you served every day of it at your next assignment....if you had 90 or less, you were discharged. Many, many draftees in Vietnam extended their tours by sufficient time to break into the 90-and-under status. This is a fact, and was in effect for more than just 1968.....I cite 68 only because I have first hand knowledge from then, as I ETS’d (at Oakland Army Terminal) 70 days prior to my original ETS date. There was no Project anything involved, whatever you are talking about was unknown to me.

Still, I’d like to know the whole truth about TK and the Army.

Well, during his two years in the US Army (he signed-up for four because he was an incompetent but Pappa Joe Moneybags paid to have the service reduced to two years), Ted rocketed up from Private (E-1) to, ah, Private (E-1). Ted didn’t even make it to E-2 while sitting safety at a desk at NATO HQ. Surely he deserves to be buried at Arlington!

You are wrong. Have you read this thread? I suggest you look at all of the removed comments in this thread. There were some vile and ignorant remarks. It concerned me, because this gives MSNBC et al, something to quote.

Ted Kennedy is not an American hero. He’s a liberal hero and a socialist icon. Democrats are making a mistake if they think Ted Kennedy is and was beloved throughout America. Using his memory and or name will turn people off even more to Obamacare.

Yet... I don’t see an entire thread with vile comments of where he is buried, appropriate. We all knew an Arlington burial with Kennedy as the God was coming. Let THEM be the fools when they further bury ObamaCare by naming it TeddyCare.

And YES, I will visit his gravesite and water the grass with my spittle for all the harm he caused the USofA while he was pompously directing others to do the same.

If it weren't for the fact that I would be desecrating the cemetery I'd do more than just spittle on his grave.

Socialism hasn’t worked in 6,000 years of recorded history because it didn’t have me to run it.” - Ted Kennedy

With a statement like this all I can think of is...
God has his hands full today. It might even take him
all week to get Ted to see the light...

The 5th post here seems to describe what you are talking about....I never heard of it, even when I returned to active duty in 1971....not quite an early ETS, I’d say...looks like I’d not have been eligible anyway, as a 91C30
