I believe in their family or own will said they wanted to be buried near their homes. Nixon never got a state funeral because I think his family requested it.

GWB kept trying to “win over” EMK, and he failed at that too.
To: ThreePuttinDude
I am thinking that too. Kennedy was more prominent than Wellstone.

I would recommend that this post be pulled. I think the comments here are what you’d expect from the liberal blogs.
Vile comments were posted there when Tony Snow died, and others.
While I disagreed with Kennedy, I don’t think we should stoop to the left’s side of disrespectful commentary.

My Father is buried there. His marker says WWll/Korea/Vietnam. What will Kennedys say? May God have mercy on my soul,
While I lie rotting in this hole.

Did The Swimmer ever do any military service? Word has it he once commanded a Naval Destroyer--a hula hoop with a nail.

I quit being offended a long time ago with these damned marxist liberals.Dishonorable and bad charactered people will be buried in heroes places.Barney Frank will most likely be buried there butt up for those BF’s that want one last ride.I do have a sense of decency and respect for the dead and their loved ones is all. All of the juvenile comments drop any cause against liberals to their level,is all.

Fat Teddy has made a habit of smearing our troops for the last 40 years!

For the record, the man has been terminally ill for almost 18 months with a brain cancer that has a zero survivability rate. The family is grieving (if at all) for public consumption. My father died in a VA hospital of cancer. He lived for 5 years after initial diagnosis and also had zero chance of surviving. I guarantee the grief our family showed when he finally passed was not just for "public consumption".
To quote the Anchoress:I feel badly for Caroline Kennedy, for whom Ted was a beloved father figure, and for his kids. Beyond that? One senses this was in some ways a tormented man -but then we are all, in some ways tormented. May he rest in peace.

Take comfort in God’s righteous judgement. My guess is a quick rejection on all counts and a short road to hell.

For those who don't know Sen. Kennedy's background I offer this bit of history.
1) Sen. Kennedy enlisted in the US Army not out of a patriotic duty but because he was expelled from Harvard Joseph P. Kennedy college for cheating TWICE.
2) Sen. Kennedy's father, Joseph P. Kennedyl, pulled strings to ensure that Ted served in France at SHAPE Headquarters to avoid service in the Korean War.
3) Sen. Kennedy was mediocre serviceman who never rose above the rank of Private First Class.
So in all fairness, Sen. Kennedy would be a Korean-era vet but not actual Korean War Vet.
"Kennedy enlisted in the United States Army in June 1951. Following basic training at Fort Dix, he requested assignment to Fort Holabird for Army Intelligence training, but was dropped after a few weeks without explanation. He went to Camp Gordon for training in the Military Police Corps. In June 1952, he was assigned to the honor guard at SHAPE headquarters in Paris. His father's political connections ensured he was not deployed to the ongoing Korean War. While stationed in Europe he travelled extensively on weekends and climbed the Matterhorn. He was discharged in March 1953 as a private first class."

He served one hitch and never rose above the rank of private.Doesn't matter. Regardless of what he did later, he served.
