If Mary Robinson is entitled to the Presidential Medal of Freedom, the Swedes are certainly entitled to refabricate one of the great libels in European history. The very leftist Aftonbladet, the most popular evening tabloid in Sweden, has published a story, "They Plunder the Organs of Our Sons," accusing the Israel Defense Forces of seizing Palestinian young men and then returning them to their families without crucial and transferrable parts. (The two stories in Ha'aretz unveiling this vile piece of journalism are here and here.)
Mrs. Robinson has fronted for other such libels against Israel. So maybe she can convene one of her many NGOs and once again put Israel in the dock, perhaps with journalist Donald Boström as prosecuting attorney or plaintiff.
The Swedish ambassador to Israel said that the Aftonbladet story is "shocking and appalling to us Swedes."
But the editor of the paper, Jan Helin, had an answer: "It is deeply unpleasant and sad to see such a strong propaganda machine using centuries-old anti-Semitic images in an apparent attempt to get an obviously topical issue off the table." So it is his tabloid's critics who are using anti-Semitic images, not the writer and not the journal.
This is repulsive, and the fact that Arab media regularly traffic in such blood libels doesn't make it less so.
If you don't believe that anti-Semitism is now on the rise in many places, you are blind. Mary Robinson's award conveyed the sense that at the White House this ugly trend was of no consequence

The end of an illogical progression: anti-Semitism with no Jews upon whom to practice. Meanwhile, Sweden is increasingly possessed of radical Muslims seeking redress for imagined slights; and the Left whiles away its remaining time sweeping itself into the dustbin of History.
That's complete nonsense. Antisemitism isn't the fault of liberal Jews. Any moron with a shred of education can understand that European antisemitism rests on these libels. Which never took hold in America.
There are a few Jews in Sweden, never many. Enough that they've banned Kosher slaughter since the 30s. For the animals.
American slanders/libels are different. In the States, you are likely to hear claims that Jews have a chokehold on world finances.
I don’t know, it looks to me that the Roman Church (or, more correctly, some parts of it) is doing a fine job spreading blood libel and hatred against Jews.
Yes, or that they’re communists, or capitalists, or neocons, as the mood strikes someone. But it’s never been ingrained as a source of religious persecution in the European manner. Jews had the rights of citizens here in most states since our nations founding, in all states before the War of 1812. A time where Jews were free virtually no where in Europe. While always here, antisemitism was also reviled. You might note Washington’s letter to the Congregation of Newport, or his treatment of Major Franks, Gen. Arnolds aide. And yes, I know to this day Jewhaters see a conspiracy there, which of course involved Washington himself.
A little back story:
The Disappearance of Simon.
The harmonious relations between the Christians and the Jews in Trent had excited the anger of the semidemented Franciscan friar Bernardinus of Feltre, who was a son of a notorious enemy of the Jews. In his Lenten sermons (1475) he endeavored to incite the people against them, but instead provoked displeasure on the part of the Christians. Then he predicted that at the next Jewish Passover a ritual murder would occur. In accordance with this prediction, the child Simon, twenty-eight months old, disappeared on March 23, 1475. Bernardinus of Feltre, Johannes Schweizer (a neighbor of the Jews), and, at last, the excited people themselves declared that the child would be found among the Jews; but a careful search through the Jewish quarter, ordered by Bishop Hinderbach and executed by the podestà of Trent, Johann Sala, proved fruitless.
On the eve of Easter Monday, March 26, some Jews noticed the body of a child in the river, near the house of one of their number named Samuel. Without a moment’s delay three of them, Tobias (a physician), Samuel, and Angelus, hastened to notify the bishop, but were not admitted to his presence. The podestà, however, visited the house of Samuel, took possession of the child’s body, and ordered the arrest of those present—Samuel, Angelus, Tobias, Israel, Bonaventura, Toaff, and a second Bonaventura (the cook). After a medical examination of the body it was stated that death was the result of violence, not of accidental drowning. A baptized Jew, Johann of Feltre, who had been a prisoner for several years for theft, seized the apparent opportunity to shorten the term of his imprisonment by declaring that the Jews use the blood of Christians for ritual purposes at the Passover. On the strength of this allegation all the members of the Jewish community, women and children included, were arrested. The proceedings against them began on March 28. The accused pleaded not guilty, and denounced two men: Johannes Schweizer, who had access to the river flowing by Samuel’s house and who for a long time had been an enemy of the Jews; and the German tailor Enzelin. Johannes Schweizer and his wife were arrested, but proved an alibi as regards the 23d of March, though only for the daytime; they were finally liberated from prison in a “miraculous” manner.
Torture Suffered by the Jews.
Then began days and nights of torture for the Jews, in which numerous methods of compelling “confession” were tried. For a long time the sufferers remained steadfast and faithful; but after weeks of torture had weakened the will, they “confessed” in the exact words dictated by their clerical tormentors and assassins. These abominable practises caused Duke Sigmund and others to intercede and stop the proceedings (April 21). But the persecutions were resumed on June 5, and were maintained until the Jew Moses, aged eighty years, after terrible tortures and persistent denials, likewise “confessed.” Toward the end of June (21-23) eight of the wealthiest Jews, after receiving baptism, were put to death, some being burned at the stake and the rest beheaded.
Investigation by the Papal Envoy.
But the cruelty of the proceedings had aroused general indignation. Pope Sixtus IV., alarmed for the reputation of the Church, commanded Bishop Hinderbach on Aug. 3 to again suspend proceedings, until the arrival of the papal commissary, Bishop Giambattista dei Sindici of Ventimiglia, who, jointly with the Bishop of Trent, would conduct the investigation. The papal agent had been fully instructed beforehand; after making an investigation, he denied the martyrdom of the child Simon and disputed the occurrence of a miracle at his grave. Sixtus IV. had already anticipated this denial in his encyclical of Oct. 10, 1475. The commissary uncovered the tissue of lies, but when he demanded the immediate release of the Jews he was denounced by the bishop and assailed by the mob, being compelled to withdraw to Roveredo. Thence, fortified by his instructions,he summoned the bishop and the podestà to answer for their conduct. Instead of appearing, Bishop Hinderbach answered by a circular, directed to all churchmen describing the martyrdom of Simon, justifying his own share in the proceedings, and denouncing the work of the Bishop of Ventimiglia as “corruptam inquisitionem.” While the papal commissary was taking Enzelin, the supposed actual murderer, a prisoner to Rome for trial, the Bishop of Trent and the podestà continued their proceedings against the Jews, several of whom they executed (Dec. 2, 1475; Jan. 13 and 16, 1476).
The Bishop of Ventimiglia reported to Rome that, as the result of careful investigations, he found the Jews innocent, that Simon had been killed by Christians with the intention of ruining the Jews, and that Bishop Hinderbach had planned to enrich himself by confiscating the estates of those executed. Sixtus IV. then appointed a commission of six cardinals to investigate the two proceedings. The head of the commission being an intimate friend of Bernardinus of Feltre, the result was a foregone conclusion, especially since the whole Catholic Church would have been involved in the condemnation of the Bishop of Trent. Accordingly, in the decree of June 20, 1478, “Facit nos pietas,” Sixtus IV. declared the proceedings against the Jews in Trent to be “rite et recte factum.” Both Bernardinus of Feltre and Simon of Trent are said to have been canonized by Gregory XIII., about a century later, the former as a prophet, and the latter as a martyr.
Anybody familiar with historical Judaic practices would laugh their arses off at this story, that reads like a bizarre cult practice. Why no Jewish whistle blowers if there were any truth to this?

IMHO, it was a set up by the anti-semetic friar who “forsaw” it.
But regarding “whistle blowers” the accusers actually had a Jewish thief who had been in prison for 7 years who got baptized and back-up the absurd story in order to get early release (the original capo).
I think Frantzie was referring to about 80% of the Jewish people in the US who have a death wish and constantly vote for Jew-haters and Muslim-lovers like Obama and the dims.
They don’t have a death wish. Obama isn’t going to round up Jews and kill them. The only place I’ve read that is on FR.
You have to understand that to centuries of virulent Jewhaters, to this day, Judaic practices are secret. If you're referring to the ban on consuming blood, it's easily dismissed as clever Jewish treachry.
We do read in the bible how groups of Hebrews kept constantly going off into some pretty horrible idolatrous and cult practices but it was, of course, never condoned by the Almighty. The Christians have a copy of that same bible, they can’t pretend they don’t know about it. How that could represent “all Jews” is beyond all credibility. If by some bizarre circumstance this event took place, it would of course inspire a world of follow-on accusations by the ignorant.
The point of my comments being that over the top accusations don’t win friends, or votes. No one is killing Jews in the US, other than a few incidents I could but won’t relate, since they’re neither hate crimes nor terrorism. Obama isn’t going to round up Jews and kill them. He and Janet won’t be coming for me, but if they did my political views, posting here, membership in gunowners organizations, a veteran, these things would be a lot more important than my religion. It’s much better to address individual issues.
Without getting into too much detail since the facts of the Simon case really aren’t the issue, rather the continuance of the blood libel which was hundreds of years old at the time and survives today. I believe the Vatican completely rejected those who venerated Simon, and the entire incident. But they were Dominicans, and a century or so later a Franciscan Pope changed his mind, and Simon became a Saint. IMO likely a political decision, but that’s for Catholics to sort out. And undone in the 1960s, so he’s gone from Catholic Martyrology today. Which isn’t the point, the libel still lives in European minds.
