The Sacramento Police Department says that Christopher Guzman went to Garcia Bend Park on Monday night, believing that he was meeting up with a 14-year-old girl he had met on a social networking website.
"This would've been the first physical contact between the suspect and the victim," said Sacramento Police Department Sgt. Norm Leong.
As Guzman waited in his car, police say five or six of the girl's family members walked up and began attacking him and his vehicle. Guzman tried to drive away, but the family members chased him, forced him out of his car and held him for police, who arrested Guzman but did not detain the relatives.
"[Guzman] was bloody from that," Sgt. Leong said. "We'll review it and see if what they did was reasonable given the circumstances in that they were trying to detain him."
Police said that Guzman was planning to videotape the young girl in a sex act.

Did this loser make online advances to a girl who in turn told her parents? Or was this a case of a family initating its own To Catch A Predator-type sting?
Well shoot, all they really had to do was to check Megan’s List. We know ALL pedophiles are listed there, because they all repeat over and over and over uncontrollably. If someone’s not on the list he must be safe.
“Oops” as a defense for what? If their daughter lied about her age, the parents may be liable for any damage to the pervert’s car up until the pervert decided to use his car as a deadly weapon against the father. At that point, the parents are within their legal rights to both defend themselves and detain the suspect for the police.
He is NOT a pedophile. In California, there are different charges for age 13 and below. 14 and above is older and different charges.
Under age 14 reference: Section 288 (lewd or lascivious acts upon a child)
Various statuatory rape laws: http://www.legalmatch.com/law-library/article/statutory-rape-the-age-of-consent.html
CAL Penal Code 288(a) | Lewd acts with a minor under 14 years of age
The most serious of the Penal Code 288 laws involve lewd conduct with a child under 14 years old. A person convicted of this crime can be sent to California State Prison for up to 8 years, and becomes a registered sex offender for life.
From the article: “The Sacramento Police Department says that Christopher Guzman went to Garcia Bend Park on Monday night, believing that he was meeting up with a 14-year-old girl he had met on a social networking website.”
It’s already been established that the pervert knew he was meeting a 14 year old girl. When he was arrested, he had a video camera, condoms, and lubrication in his car. All of that speaks to intent.

You’re absolutely correct... when you speak of those who get a lot of publicity. But there are others...
According to Bureau of Justice statistics about 95% of sex offenders never re-offend once they have been caught and prosecuted. Of course the media sells paper and ink with that other 5% and when they’ve sold enough newspapers the public has been brainwashed to believe as you do.
Of course, you’ve already made up your mind and no one likes to admit they’re wrong so - flame away.
You keep asserting that this family took the law into their own hands as if they had another course of action. Tell me what that course of action would be? Call the police to tell them that their 14 year old daughter was going to the park to meet a man that promised her $200 to be in his movie and wait for the police to handle it?
Really?!
If you found out that your daughter was doing the same, would you not consider her to be in imminent bodily harm? Would you call the police and stay away from the park while there was a chance that you may never see your precious baby girl again? If so, you're a terrible parent. If not, then what's your beef with this family for doing everything they could to protect their daughter from becoming another missing or murdered child?
For example, the age of consent in Florida is 18, but close in age exemptions exist. By law, the exception permits a person 23 years of age or younger to engage in legal sexual activity with a minor aged 16 or 17. A person 24 years of age or older who engages in sexual activity with a person 16 or 17 years of age commits a felony of the second degree.
Most states have "close in age exemptions" which start at ages as young as 12 years old. And at ages 15 or 16, consensual sex with a partner over age 18 is allowed under that "closeness of age" exemption.
And in Delaware, The age of consent is 18, but it is legal for teenagers aged 16 and 17 to engage in sexual intercourse as long as the older partner is younger than 30.
So you really have to know how the laws governing what the age of sexual consent are written in your state.
Although that's supposition, it's the way I read it (and apparently a number of others did too), and if true, they were (legally) wrong given there were no exigent circumstances or immediate threat to the daughter.
As I've acknowledged elsewhere, and supplemental material suggests, the family may have noticed the daughter missing, figured out where she may be headed, contacted the police and immediately proceeded to the scene to find their daughter, then there would certainly be matters of extenuation and mitigation to be considered by the police and prosecutors.
Stallone’s a Republican. He backed McCain and has donated $ to Republican candidates.

Really? I never heard this before.
Once they saw their daughter wasn't in his car, they had no business touching him. They went to far. There was no reason that they had to detain the person. He was no longer an immediate threat, or perceived threat to their daughter.
Why is that so hard for you to understand?
And how DARE you call me a terrible parent. I'm just not a STUPID parent is all.
In fact, this girls parents are the terrible parents. The fact that they didn't know until it was almost too late what their daughter was doing, and didn't know how long and how many other times she has met with guys from the internet to go make porn movies for money, essentially prostituting herself, isn't exactly what I would call good parenting. Letting a 14 year old chat it up with guys on dating sites at all isn't good parenting.
Once they saw their child was not it this guys car, it was STUPID of them to confront him further. He may have had a gun for all they know, and because they didn't know under what circumstances this guy thought he was meeting this girl, whether he assumed she was older, of legal age, he could have SHOT one of them, or their other kid, and done so LEGALLY because from his perpsective, he was being attacked by raving lunatics.
Obviously they never thought everything through. They put their children in danger for no good reason. And had something terrible happened, the father end up dead, damage their daughters mental well being for life.
MY daughters would never be in that kind of situation. I ALWAYS knew where they were who they were with, and what they did on the computer. EVERY KEYSTROKE. They were not allowed to take a computer into their room. They were not allowed to chat on date sites. No facebook, myspace nothing. They were not even allowed to date until they were 18. And as long as they lived under my roof and I was paying their way through collage, they had to abide by MY rules. After 18, if they didn't like it, they knew where the door was.
Now they are fine young professional ladies with good careers in their chosen fields, and are very glad that they didn't turn out like some of their friends.
In the Sheeple’s Republic of FloriDUH, the goobers removed the “She lied about her age” defense.
Even if Lil Darlin has a faked drivers license, that is no defense.
Welcome to the Twilight Zone where FemiNazi premises rule.
LOL - perfect.
“Why does this make the news?”
Perhaps this thread has posts raising fundamental issues?
A few such are:
1. Does the parent or an AgencyPerson decide when that parent allows their child to date and or mate?
2. Does a parent have the right to physically defend his child from a potential sex partner of his child which he feels is inappropriate?
Until very recently, a minor child was the property of the parent. Changing that parental authority/responsibility, which traces back to the beginning of Mosaic Law, was not a change that brought the benefits alleged by the legal/social/sexual activists who brought about that change.
It's a terrible shame... that they didn't use hammers.
