We are witnessing one of the more rapid turnabouts in recent American political history. President Obamas popularity has plummeted to 50 percent and lower in some polls, while the public expresses even less confidence in the Democratic-led Congress and the direction of the country at large. Yet, just eight months ago, liberals were talking in Rovian style about a new generation to come of progressive politics and the end of both the Republican party and the legacy of Reaganism itself. Barack Obama was to be the new FDR and his radical agenda an even better New Deal.
What happened, other than the usual hubris of the party in power?
First, voters had legitimate worries about health care, global warming, immigration, energy, and inefficient government. But it turns out that they are more anxious about the new radical remedies than the old nagging problems. They wanted federal support for wind and solar, but not at the expense of neglecting new sources of gas, oil, coal, and nuclear power. They were worried about high-cost health care, the uninsured, redundant procedures, and tort reform, but not ready for socialized medicine. They wanted better government, not bigger, DMV-style government. There is a growing realization that Obama enticed voters last summer with the flashy lure of discontent. But now that they are hooked, he is reeling them in to an entirely different and, for many a frightening agenda. Nothing is worse for a president than a growing belief among the public that it has been had.

“White folks greed runs a world in need”. The impact is multiplied when he reads the book aloud. It’s soooo Presidential.

In a few months we will be in the parking lot walking past the stinking port-a-johns and the hippies puking on the sidewalks.... While we watch the Rock Star fly away in his helicopter.
I think you should suggest that some of them may be child molesters or at least ask for their background checks. They do this with scout leaders don’t they so why should this be any different?
Obama Failure.
Gets used to saying that. Obama Failure.
Omg cottshop, so sorry about all the posts. I was getting a message indicating I couldnt post but it went through obviously. No more phone freeping!
Is it possible to delete my redundancy? Sorry!
Vista was the basis for this and Americorps has been around for years, got political, and then and was considerably de-politicized under Bush.
But this is the NEW Americorps that Obama talked about shortly after his election.
or was Obama just “feeding us a line”?
++++++++++
Yeah, the line was ‘hope and change’ which is so utterly lacking any detail, just like the one himself, as to be meaningless.
Scary thing is, something like 40 million voters bought that. The others (29 million) are more hard core, and didn’t need any details.
Well we’re getting details now, and they aint pretty.
It is a function of trajectory. Most meteoric rises are accompanied by a similar fall from grace. Who is he? where did he come from? no one knows - it was never properly explored. Medias Fault!
++++++++++
Excellent thought. IMHO, it’s not just the media’s fault - they are complicit. They are traitors to this nation.
lol no owrries- happens from time to time
because Obama isnt far enough left for the majority of Dems.
+++++++++++++
I’m not sure if they’re that united, or know what they want exactly. I’m glad about that. As the Rs found out, it’s pretty tough to rule the entire government, actually. I think our own little community organizer is finding out that truth first hand. Wonder if he’s still enjoying the ride...lol...or if he’s waking up in the middle of the night in cold sweats and shrieks of terror.
It’s much easier to tear down the other side, than to actually stand for something and build something.
In any case, I don’t know what kind of economic reality the dims stand for - they can’t possibly think these INSANE deficits are sustainable? For all their talk about sustainability on the environmental side, they have no clue...
Obama didnt get the crisis he was hoping for.
++++++++++++
That statement worries me...
but I can tell you that more and more people who used to not give a rats rear end about politics are sickened by what Obama and the democrats are doing to this country.
+++++++++++++
I agree with this. This is happening big time all around the country. It’s why Rs won that special election in Deleware, and will win many more seats to come (this *must* happen to bring the pendulum of power back to somewhat where it was.)
Sara could, but the “Machine” just continues to slap her around.
We’re screwed.
+++++++++++++
What about Jim Demint, Pawlenty, Huckabee, Boehner? What about leaders coming out of the 2010 cycle? Don’t despair about 2012 just yet..
