Bold and conservative, Bachmann hints at bid to be 'Mrs. President'
WorldNetDaily ^ | August 17, 2009 | Drew Zahn

She began her political career simply, as a Christian mom concerned about the content of school papers her children brought home in their backpacks, but today she has become one of the leading defenders of liberty and conservative principles on Capitol Hill.

Rep. Michelle Bachmann, R-Minn., laughs at her humble start in politics.

"I attended my caucus, not intending to run for office," Bachmann told WND. "I had on jeans and a sweatshirt with a hole in it and tennis shoes. But the people said, 'Michele, you need to run,' and I did."

Bachmann went on to beat out Minnesota's longest-sitting state senator in the 2000 Republican primary and then defeated her Democratic opponent in the general election. Six years later, she overcame millions of dollars in Democrat campaign spending to be elected to the U.S. House of Representatives, and, in an exclusive interview with WND, Bachmann hinted her underdog campaigns may even lead to the White House.

Bachmann, a federal tax litigation attorney before serving in elected office, told WND that she is "first and foremost a mother." In the late 90s, the mother of five and foster mom to another 23 children through the years, grew concerned about what her foster kids were bringing home from the public school.

Joe who? He seems to be hiding under a rock somewhere in Delaware, seems, along with Hillary, Obama has neutered him.

Loves God and her fellow man.

Great Republican candidate.

I hope all FReepers support this courageous young woman.

Palin/Bachmann 2012 ???

Talk about a conservative Dream Team! The democrats wouldn't stand a chance in Hades of beating that combination.

Every time I see a picture of Bachmann it strikes me very strongly that she has crazy eyes. I’m not sure what it is about her look that causes this. The fact that she grabbed onto Bush and wouldn’t let go didn’t diminish this impression.

The biggest problem I can see is the cross over voters from the dem party. We will never be able to get a good conservative candidate on the ticket in 2012. You all know that is why we had McCain for our candidate.

I will support Michelle’s candidacy for at least VP, or Sarah Palin’s for VP. I really don’t think a Bachman run with Palin would work, with either in the top spot. I think that with a lot of work, either one could run for President, and at this point, I would support either. I’m hoping that Jim Demint runs for President.

While I like Bachmann, she really needs to stay in the Senate and work from their. I do not want another government of senators.

From what I’ve seen of her so far, she’s got my vote. Above all, she’s unafraid.

Small point, but she's in the House.

I agree with that.
Maybe McCain should have went with Ms. Bachman—maybe she wouldn’t have thrown the ‘threat and fear’ into the women that Ms Palin appeared to do...bad enough one (Palin) is young and succesful, has a young family, still attractive AND running for high office. Ms Bachman has the same qualities but IMNSHO she looks more ‘serious’ than SP.
Kind of how “us guys” look at John Edwards...LOOKS too young, too smarmy and being a lawyer - ambulance chaser to boot - just doesn’t look presidential.....
One would be ‘surprised’ at the Anti Palin mood amongst the Obama supporters— even those that have ‘seen the light’.

I ran into a (younger than I) lady the other evening and although fine in most every way (she calls herself a non confrontational moderate democrat). I naturally didn’t bring up politics and when she asked what my leanings were I said
“You had stated that politics weren’t an issue, Let me say that I am not pleased with this current administration and wasn’t all that enamored with Bush as he had a lot of flaws I didn’t agree with.” Out of nowhere she started railing on Palin and I just sat there kind of dumbfounded and glanced at the people around us (in a restaurant) and most of them were nodding in assent with her. She was so adamant that I decided to not confront her at the time— as it definitely wasn’t in MY best interest.... <; <; <;

Man I reread this and am STANDING BY for the flames as I think I may have managed to get EVERYONE pi$$ed

Ok, well then, I think she should try and move into a leadership position in the house where conservatism will be better served.

Michelle and/or Sarah are just about the only politicians I have any faith in right now and are awesome counters to the RINOPOS that are being thrown at us from every direction.
