Here’s what happened. Somebody decided to send an email — one s/he composed after reading the Bill, or one cut and pasted from the Internet, perhaps from Liberty Counsel or from Roger Hedgecock’s site. This individual sent it along to a list of her friends. They in turn forwarded it to THEIR friends. All of them put the addressees’ email addresses in the “TO:” field of their email client. So each new recipient got all the email addresses of everyone that had received the email.
Somewhere along the line, someone with Kool Aid stains on their lips was sent the message, and BAMMO — off the email went to flag@whitehouse.gov. Not only the original sender, and the ultimate forwarder, but EVERY email address to which the thing had been sent consequently wound up on the White House’s email list.
The White House then sent an email to everyone whose email address appeared in this message, with all its nested FWDs.
And that is how it happened.
NObody uses the “Bcc:” field anymore. If they did, this sort of thing wouldn’t happen.
