John Edwards, the shame of it all
The GOPNation.com ^ | August 14, 2009 | The GOPnation.com

Former Sen. John Edwards (D) is expected to admit that he is the father of a child born by his former mistress. So ends one of the most shameful political story in recent memory, as it ends a career.

Edwards - who ran for president in 2004 and in 2008 (and was John Kerry's 2004 running mate) - was supposed to be the Democrat's best hope (before Barack Obama), in the model of Robert F. Kennedy. However, as his wife battled inoperable breast cancer, stories began swirling during the 2008 campaign that the former Senator at a love-child with a former staffer. As in 2004, Edward's 2008 campaign unraveled, and the rumors of infidelity just hastened the campaign's end. Not only did Edwards first deny the child, but also the affair despite verified information to the contrary. Even his wife, Elizabeth denied any sort of knowledge or validity of the rumor, as she pettled her biography following the 2008 campaign.

His expected announcement that he is the father is too-late, too-little to save this guy's reputation and political future.

Edwards was always in love more with himself than with anyone else and this latest revelation just certifies that fact.

Luckily, this should sweep the guy from future political runs. Interestingly, his campaign site remains.

This is news? Didn’t we all here figure that out when it happened? Geez.

Edwards is looking forward to the government visit for all new parents where he’ll be given instruction on how to raise a kid. Unless the mom chooses to abort it, that is. Doesn’t she have until it’s 2 years old?

IMHO, Bill Clinton's indiscretions was a 1000 times worse.

If “pettled” isn’t a word, it should be. Has a nice ring to it.

Time to flush former Sen. ExLax (you know, for the “regular guy”)from our memories.

Buh bye, Silky Pony.

Remember a certain campaign aide you did not see fit to provide a job for when you won your senate seat because you only wanted people with a “certain look”? You deserve everything you’ve gotten and SO much more.

Go back to South Carolina where you were born. No decent North Carolinian wants you around. Never did.

“Luckily, this should sweep the guy from future political runs.”

Don’t count on it. He’s a Democrat. He could be the illegitimate son of a Kenyan Muslim, a dope user, a socialist, a man with a hidden past and probably still get elected president ... hey, wait a minute.

So, everything in the original National Enquirer story was true.

BTW, I have not seen an Edwards for POTUS bumper sticker in Chapel Hill in about a year. The town hates this habitual liar.

And if Edwards had obtained elective office, his indiscretions would have been swept under the rug (too).

I can relate to your feelings on this, but he'd still have been a better president than what we've got.

As a matter of fact, Bill Clinton was better than what we've got (at least he didn't want to destroy the country - all he had on his mind was getting laid).

MSNBC has already been laying the groundwork for his comeback. Little things like this dont matter to the communist party, he was their favorite politician for making his entire campaign about class warfare.

I disagree that Edwards had a political future. He was another Harold Stassen in the making, only for the Democrats and without Stassen’s integrity. Edwards’ candidacy was pure narcissism.

It is a word....it's what Hillary did while giving that speech in Africa a few days ago. It means fondled.

I have seen him referred to as Silky Pony. Can you tell me what it means and where it came from?

which one has a better political future?

having an illegitimate kid, and lying about it.
or,
driving off a bridge and escaping, but letting a passenger drown,
but not calling police.
