Liberteens tend to think that what they or any person does to themselves should not be subject to regulation as it doesn’t affect others. But it usually does.

Drunk/stoned drivers kill others.
Drug users (alcoholics, too) commit crimes to support their habits.
There are other examples, I’m sure.

CS Lewis described it as a fleet of ships heading for a common destination. If one of the ships’ crew members refuse to keep their ship in good working order, it may crash into the other ships, affecting others beyond their own sphere of control.

Self control is a pre-requisite of freedom.

You’re gonna have to list individually what you’ll think we’ll win in the Senate to reach 52. We’re really at a serious disadvantage unlike ‘94.

I see huge, epic gains for the Republicans, maybe more than 60 in the House and at least 12 in the Senate. And the gains would be even more if not for the seats taken by Sarah Palin’s upstart Truth Party.

But those gains will depend purely upon the GOP political skill it will take to (a) keep voters reminded of all the atrocities the Dems are abusing us with now, (b) field enough QUALITY candidates for every contested seat, (c) keep the vote from being stolen and (d) restore the good name of the Republican party.

If I were trying to submarine the GOP, which I’m not, I would point out that NOBODY raised a question about Zero’s qualifications when they had the chance, and they’ve only started voting as a bloc since the heat was applied. The incumbents of both parties are way too cozy, too imperial and too loose with the Constitution and our money. All things considered, I would prefer to see ALL OF THEM ... OUT!! (Tell DeMint and the other “good ones” to sit out a term, if you like them that much.)

All that being said ... I’m not sure there will be an election, or certainly not one patterned after all the peaceful elections of the past few generations. Zero has a LOT more on his agenda ... illegal immigrants, disarmament, sharia, food control, etc. So by the time next year’s elections roll around, there will be a LOT more crap stuffed down our throats, all of it done on a hurry-up basis. Worse, by that time there should be a good “national emergency” that will let Zero suspend ALL of our rights and the Constitution, open up the internment camps and limit all travel and communications, then all bets are off. Then we’re up to our necks in it.

And here’s a prediction, just off the cuff:

Sometime early next year, Zero issues an executive order to halt all financial transactions of more than $10,000. (Yeah, that will cause some heartburn!) He then calls for nationalizing all 401k and IRA accounts, but the government will pay you the exact same amount that you would have received from your retirement account when you reach the appropriate age. So you aren’t really losing anything! It’s just what Social Security should have been all along! Aren’t you happy?
