Sorry I forgot where I read it but the VOLT only gets that kind of mileage when it’s recharged six times on a trip. Not very honest.

The Volt is powered by an electric motor and battery pack with a 40-mile range. After that, a small internal combustion engine kicks in to generate electricity for a range of up to of 300 miles. I call BS on 200+ MPG. I guess if you never drain the battery, then MAYBE (with putting around a level parking lot or neighborhood). But there is NO WAY that sort of mileage is happening in that piece of crap with the gasoline engine running. Period.

230 mpg is a ridiculous claim, since they have to pull electric power form the grid. On that basis, an electric golf cart gets 10 trillion mpg.

Something does not make sense here. Are they saying that you only charge it once and then get 230 miles per gallon? I think that is an impossibility unless GM discovered some very advanced technology from another planet. Or are they saying that you have to charge the car multiple times in order to run 230 miles per gallon? This is what should happen in the real world.

The batteries in this car are no good below 32deg.
If the car is not plugged in it will automatically start it’s gas engine to warm the batteries up.
That should be good for a few laughs....

However, it’ll probably cost you $230.00 per recharge under Barry’s new Cap’n Tax scheme. But what the hell! You’ll be “saving the planet” for Algore while making HIM rich.

They are counting on people being so stupid that they believe electricity has no cost. The DBM has no intention of clearing up this misinformation. Just another media lie (attempt to deceive).

If the Volt and other electrics get the acceptance hoped for we will be waiting nervously for the inevitable incremental improvement in battery technology. Then, where will we put 20,000,000 obsolete batteries, not to mention the 100 billion replacement price tag.

The battery pack can be recharged from a standard home outlet. Is Government Motors seriously claiming that one gallon of gas will generate enough electricity to propel that car 270 miles?
Boy, GM told some whoppers before, but now that they're Government Motors there's no end to the lies they'll tell now! Next thing you know Government provided health care will be free!

Let’s see. I can buy a car that gets 20 mpg for $25,000 or I can spen $40,000 for 230 mpg. The way I figure, if gas is around $2.50 gallon I can travel 120,000 miles for the $15,000 difference.
