I was on board until they got to the price tag.

Buy a comparable sized car for $20k, put the other $20k in an interest bearing large sum bank account, get thirty miles to the gallon in your conventional car and drive 150,000 miles (assuming $4 gas.)

There won't be any way to figure out the real difference in costs until we see how much it costs to plug in your car every night. A 40 mile car would do me good 90% of the time, but not so much when I need to drive to the ski slope in bad weather.

I still think $40k is a lot to pay for a small car. Remember that the $40k price tag is already subsidized by every American taxpayer.

The miles would hardly get me from my home to town and back home again. Usability is a key factor for any vehicle - and this one is no exception.
