(Towson Maryland)-After the office of Maryland Sen. Ben Cardin admitted to receiving over 1,600 RSVP's for its health care Town Hall, they must have been surprised at the more than 2,000 citizens that showed up according to witnesses and University Police.
An urgent request to the AFL-CIO for forces to "counter" those opposed to healthcare was able to result in the a large group of supporters in line hours before the doors opened but was not able to counter the voices of those locked out of the meeting.
Sign carrying protesters both for and against the health care bill took up positions on both sides of the road in front of the event with a core group of about 50 supporters being opposed by nearly 300.
The supporters were approximately 15 red shirt wearing "Progressives of Maryland" and another group of about 15 yellow shirt wearing union members. The remainder of the group was made up of aging hippie types and young college students.
For Maryland, an extremely liberal state, the turnout was amazing for the conservative movement. They countered the typical 2-4-6-8 cheers of the union members (read from script sheets) with "All we are saying, is pay your own bills" sung to the tune of the Beatles "All we are saying is give peace a chance" while the crowd swayed back and forth.
Other good repeated chants were:
Astroturfers! Astroturfers! (When pre-made signs were being handed out by the union members. They also handed out mini-American flags that were quickly abandoned which led to cheers of "What happen to the flags? Did they burn your hands?"
USA for Us! Canada for You!
Pay your bills!
Just say No!
Thats not a hybrid! (When one of the few supporters of the liberals honked from a huge SUV. Most people driving by were honking and waving to the conservatives)
Shave your legs! (You had to see the other side to understand-lol)
"Sha na na na-Sha na na na-Hey Hey Hey-Goodbye!" (When each group of supports left. Each group seemed to come together and leave together.
The union chant of "What do we want-HEALTHCARE! When do we want it-NOW!" was countered by yelling "Our Money" just after they chanted "What do we want?!"-LOL
Supporters dwindled down to about 5 at 9pm with at least 100 still on the opposition side. At one point the 100 cheered for the remaining 5 for showing such determination after their union friend left. (The Union members leaving brought chants of "No Overtime! No Overtime!"
A severe thunderstorm ended the fun.
BTW, I do participate in Tea Parties and town events, but we have a goodie in our Congressperson, even though it is California ... and we are inflicted with (for the time being at least) the two biddies, “Booxer” and “Finewine”!
I’m smilin’, big time.
Thanks to ALL the patriots who participated.
In another thread I posted that Socialism is a system created by psychopaths that turns its victims into psychopaths. Quod erat demonstrandum.
A friend of mine who grew up in a single mother household in Romania in the 1950s, when he was like 6 years old, actually thought Stalin was his father—so redundant was the image and legend of Stalin even in the satellite state.
Imagine all the fatherless children in the black neighborhoods in American cities today.
Get a T-shirt and get paid, I bet is what happening.
A bit off topic but tonight i met my daughter for dinner and a beer at a well worn Manhattan watering hole All along 6th Avenue in the teens were bright yellow poster announcing good money 1600-2100 a month. The employer was the Sierra Club and the job was organizing support for policies. If anyone’s interested call Jessy @ 212 2191502. I still can’t figure the Sierra Club on 6th Avenue, but I think Obama has called in all his flying monkeys.
Keep it peaceful, folks. Watch out for the professional union/ACORN/Chavista-type turba troublemakers who want to mix it up. They are good at this. I am getting other reports that they are headed for other town hall demonstrations to try to repeat St. Louis the other night. But we are prepared. I am sure of it. If there is violence, it will come from the Union thugs first. Everything will be documented. Take videocameras. Film over your head with a steady hand on the camera. YouTube ANY provocation by the Communists. People will go to jail. Lawsuits galore. The socialists will have their backs broken politically and economically speaking and anything they throw at the People will be returned in due measure and three fold. They can take that to the bank. I write this as I am sure some lurk these very threads. We have their number; they ought to know that.
I was there - kept thinking “I’m not here to fight, but if one of those thugs hits me, I’m wailing on him...”
I’m surprised about Prince Georges County! When I lived there,(New Carrollton)about 45 years ago, our neighborhood seemed pretty conservative! I don’t know the political leanings; if the most families were Dem.s, they were pretty conservative ones! (at least socially so)
I’m talking about a neighborhood, where parents wouldn’t let the kids go to the Beatle concert because of the “Beatles more popular than Jesus” incident! That’s just how socially conservative they were! Of course, there were a lot of Roman Catholics there. Naturally, the old colony was Roman Catholic to begin with, so there were still a lot of pre-Vatican 2-era R.C.s still living there.
I don’t know if that was true all over(about being conservative), or if we lived in a conservative district. I don’t know what happened in all the years since, I haven’t ever been back. I’m wondering if they are too close to the college in College Park? D.C.? Still, it makes me sad!
It’s definitely not gonna be easy to stay out of it. I wonder if there are some guidelines somewhere that can be followed. Watch out for the younger ones, I can say that much. Also, some of these people on the Left show up stoned. A couple were tonight.
wow,,,,look at those pics...
Great Turnout
Cardin is coming to Hagerstown next and I know about thirty coming from Cumberland to get a chance at Cardin.
OMG! I LOVE THAT!!
Ah, but you must remember. Those hippies have aged and their renditions of Beatles songs will have much more authenticity than the chanting of some hippie wannabes who were never there.
I just hope they got it on YouTube with the crowd swaying back and forth. The libs really looked spellbound when we did it.
Imho, the video showed Cardin looking down at one point with an arrogant smirk on his face. Micro facial expressions and body language tell a lot.
Haha...bless your heart! I’m in Millington.
