(Towson Maryland)-After the office of Maryland Sen. Ben Cardin admitted to receiving over 1,600 RSVP's for its health care Town Hall, they must have been surprised at the more than 2,000 citizens that showed up according to witnesses and University Police.
An urgent request to the AFL-CIO for forces to "counter" those opposed to healthcare was able to result in the a large group of supporters in line hours before the doors opened but was not able to counter the voices of those locked out of the meeting.
Sign carrying protesters both for and against the health care bill took up positions on both sides of the road in front of the event with a core group of about 50 supporters being opposed by nearly 300.
The supporters were approximately 15 red shirt wearing "Progressives of Maryland" and another group of about 15 yellow shirt wearing union members. The remainder of the group was made up of aging hippie types and young college students.
For Maryland, an extremely liberal state, the turnout was amazing for the conservative movement. They countered the typical 2-4-6-8 cheers of the union members (read from script sheets) with "All we are saying, is pay your own bills" sung to the tune of the Beatles "All we are saying is give peace a chance" while the crowd swayed back and forth.
Other good repeated chants were:
Astroturfers! Astroturfers! (When pre-made signs were being handed out by the union members. They also handed out mini-American flags that were quickly abandoned which led to cheers of "What happen to the flags? Did they burn your hands?"
USA for Us! Canada for You!
Pay your bills!
Just say No!
Thats not a hybrid! (When one of the few supporters of the liberals honked from a huge SUV. Most people driving by were honking and waving to the conservatives)
Shave your legs! (You had to see the other side to understand-lol)
"Sha na na na-Sha na na na-Hey Hey Hey-Goodbye!" (When each group of supports left. Each group seemed to come together and leave together.
The union chant of "What do we want-HEALTHCARE! When do we want it-NOW!" was countered by yelling "Our Money" just after they chanted "What do we want?!"-LOL
Supporters dwindled down to about 5 at 9pm with at least 100 still on the opposition side. At one point the 100 cheered for the remaining 5 for showing such determination after their union friend left. (The Union members leaving brought chants of "No Overtime! No Overtime!"
A severe thunderstorm ended the fun.
We also chanted Union break! at the thugs across the street. Pretty funny. Theres more at:

I heard the crowd wanted Cardin to answer if he would take the public option. He finally said he’ll be on Medicare soon. I am SURE he will have supplemental private insurance though.
Keep the pressure on! Call, fax and get to a townhall. Get family, friends and neighbors there.
Great job by the people in Maryland!!! They are paying union goons and troublemakers and they still do not get crowds. We need to swamp them and make the pols feel the heat.
We stop them here, we let them know to not even thing about Amnesty!
Resist!
“Union Break!”
LOL-I forgot about that one.
Those who are not union thugs far outnumber those who are union thugs.
LOL! Great job! The chants by the good guys and gals are hilarious!

Over 4,000 showed up for David Vitter’s town hall meeting in Jefferson Parish today (LA).
"Hey Hey- Ho Ho- Union Thugs have got to go"
Heres a pic showing the red shirt/yellow shirt astroturfers:
Hat tip to RockinRight
I love it, next they will be singing “Where has all our tax money gone...”
There is a whole bunch of lefty folk songs than can be turned around sgainst them.
Griff was a friend of Tony Snow!!!!!
Fantastic!
I was also at the demonstration outside the event in Towson where there had to be nearly 1,000 (if not more) patriots of all shapes and sizes and sexes and even races who could not get in
and we stared down what looked to me to be a single bus-load (or thereabout) of professional union thugs for a few hours. And—
Things got pretty heated.
The anti-Obamacare (aka Final Solution) folks there, Freepers and our bretheren, were just everyday working people, middle class or blue collar, and all carrying homemade signs or American flags.
I personally got into it (verbally) with a Bolshie troll and also found out how much fun it is to chant Palin! Palin! right in the faces of the commies. What a catharsis that is. When you’re down in the dumps, find a leftie and chant Palin at them.
I know I’m spamming a bit tonight but it was a fabulous turnout and a great night of participatory democracy. I saw a man who was about 85 with an “Obamacare = Euthanasia” poster and it made me proud to be on our side and I told him to “Keep the faith.”
It’s a good sign that blue-blue-blue state Md. can generate real grassroots/spontaneous action such as tonight’s.
And, as I’ve said elsewhere tonight: Were on the move, baby.
yes, i know, i think he was the producer of his radio show too, actually. he has done stuff for glenn beck also. i like him!
Considering that the Yankee government prevented Maryland legislators from voting on secession (would have passed), I’d say they’ve always had the spirit.
You’ll notice how receptive letists are to uniforms
Makes me PROUD...
You are a HERO, PaleoBob...I moved from the ‘burbs of DC 2 years ago, after leaving a stint at DoS...Before that I worked as the Ops Manager for a National Company...no better blue collar, responsible group of employees under my command then Baltimore guys. I had Baltimore, DC, NoVa and guys in between there and Va Beach as employees...Baltimore guys were the cream of the crop. Non-union...pride in work, there everyday. No one can tell me Maryland went Obama.
Any of you make it to this?
