AARP Alternative: 60plus.org
60plus.org ^

This organization just ran an ad on the Glenn Beck show. I would write 60plus.org with a huge black Sharpie on the next piece of literature or bill you receive from AARP and mail it back to them in their postage paid envelope.

They are against 0bama's shovel-ready healthcare plan.

ANYTHING, anything that comes into my home from the mail box bearing the letters AARP automatically enters the shredder hopper.

Using for what they’re worth..... 10 to 20% off at select locations.

Same in my house.

It looks to me like it’s a good organization, but it doesn’t have membership benefits like AARP does. Another AARP alternative that has membership benefits as well as its advocacy role is Americanseniors.org

Especially since they learned that the shoveling involved digging their own graves! Cuts costs, doncha know.

I like the idea of taping a brick to the franking envelope and mailing it back to AARP. Most of the time I just write that I don’t support radical wings of the Democrat Party and send the request back.

To me, THE biggest "membership benefit" of any organization is a VOTE on who runs it, like NRA...and UNLIKE AARP or WWF, PETA, or so many (mainly on the Left) others, whose "membership" only exists to donate to the actual central, core organization 'committee'.

Better yet, fill their postage paid envelopes with washers, tape it up, and send it back to them with $10+ postage due. :)

Me too. I have had that in my tag line for several years. I just change my age each year. But most seniors have no clue!

ANYTHING, anything that comes into my home from the mail box bearing the letters AARP automatically enters the shredder hopper.

Some years ago I got seriously POed w/ AARP's stand on gun control and the Second Amendment so I cut up my membership card and canceled their magazine. I had forgotten that I was with the AARP auto club. I subsequently called them and asked for a refund and they said "why are you doing that?" and I replied that I was no longer a member of AARP. They said "So what, we don't really care." So I stayed with them because they are a totally independent business and are not a part of AARP. They get my business as they are less expensive then AAA and have pretty much the same coverage. They are still "grandfathering" me in as I still get the "geezer" discount.

Regards,
GtG

I’ve been told that AARP receives money from the government, so they have to support government programs such as health care, et. AARP spends a LOT of money on children programs, which was not the original idea. The original idea is to support seniors only. Also, my husband checked with AARP for insurance rates...they were higher than any of the insurance companies in my area. We stayed with our current insurance. AARP leans left, I lean right. Not supporting such a group, and never will. Only uninformed people are memembers of AARP.
