This is no time for jokes or trivial banter. The stakes are getting higher by the nanosecond. As tensions are inflamed at health care town hall meetings across the country, a dangerous trend of Hitler comparisons, Stalin comparisons, and all-around dictator comparisons to President Barack Obama is taking shape. The most probing question at this juncture might be uncomfortable to some, but it must be asked: Do conservative, hard-right demagogues, whose hatred for President Obama has hardly ever been subdued, secretly hope for--and are hard at work toward--the assassination of the nation's first Black president.
The sheer thought that a faction of the country's political bloc holds such views might unnerve certain readers, but fear of the probable demands that we face up to the consequences before it's too late.
A couple of days ago, violence broke out at a Tampa, Florida, health care summit at which U.S. Rep. Kathy Castor was speaking. Mob groups, contracted by right-wing organizations, loudly interrupted the Congresswoman as she spoke, causing a scene so volatile that it soon turned violent.
For those who had been following the recent outbursts of verbal chaos at countless Congressional health care-centered town hall meetings, the Tampa incident was but the inevitable culmination of a brewing hostility that had begun bubbling as early as last weekend, when Kathleen Sebelius, Secretary of Health and Human Services, was heckled and berated by reform opponents at a Pennsylvania town hall meeting where she was also joined by Philadelphia Democratic Senator, Arlen Specter.

Hey Tutes take your meds.
"Mixing real archive footage and computer generated imagery, "Death of a President" shows President Bush being gunned down by a Syrian sniper during a Chicago anti-war protest in October 2007. When word of the provocative plot hit the blogosphere Thursday, it sparked outrage, particularly among conservatives. "
Deporting illegal aliens works for me.
Biden has people? The Hair Club for Men doesn't count.
Oh, a poll! I vote both of the above are more un-American than any Conservative.
Didn’t liberals openly wish for the assassination of George W. Bush, even making movies about it?
It would be an utter, irremediable disaster for the nation to make a martyr of him. Far better he serve a full term exposing his inexperience and radicalism as a cautionary tale for the public to never again vote for someone like that.
I want him to face end-of-life counseling, like the rest of us, when he turns 65, so that he can be denied medical care when its deemed that he's "not worth it".
I sure don’t want THAT MAN to be assassinated; just gone...far, far away, along with his socialists friends. I wouldn’t mind all the holidays off work, though...
I believe God has a solution that we can’t even imagine! (It just might be the “dragged out of offce by his marxist ears” with the rest of the Dems supporting him to boot!)
I don’t want the guy in there. But assassination would destroy this country because of the riots that would ensue - NO MATTE WHO WAS FOUND TO BE RESPONSIBLE FOR IT.
This is just so much BS. During Bush’s term, there were books and movies on doing Bush in. And no secret service around. Maybe Bush called them off, but now this phony president is trying anything to divert attention from how badly he is failing. BS meter pegged.
On election night my granddaughter asked what would happen if something happened to obama and I told her that Biden would be president. She didn’t like that and asked what would happen if something happened to Biden. I told her “then Nancy Pelosi would become president! PRAY for obama!”
Thoughtcrime! Doubleplus ungood!
Let’s sit back and think for a minute about the implications about a citizen of a supposedly free country “secretly wishing” for something. Not acting on that wish. Not persuading others to wish the same thing. Just secretly wishing for something.
OK - how do we figure this out? How do we know who’s been secretly wishing for what? And what do we charge these individuals with? And what should we do to prevent others from secretly wishing the same thing?
Lots and lots of questions in this reader’s mind.
Exactly.
I'm not a fan of Bush any more, but the conduct today is certainly no worse than what was done to Bush.
I know how he feels. I felt the same way every time some left wing comedian, or actor or politician or whatever spoke about or alluded to killing President Bush. Put up with that crap for eight years, didn't we?
Bull. Stopped reading right there. Only people that are being paid are the ACORN and SEUI thugs that also show up.
To hijack a famous quote:
“It’s not personal, it’s business.”
To wish someone defeated politically is not o wish them dead - this is not a third world banana republic. We believe in peaceful transition of power and public vociferous dissent. This is a battle in the realm of political philosophy and impacts the future of the country. Most of us harbor no personal ill will towards the socialists, we simply wish them defeated politically and relegated to their rightful position of background noise in an otherwise peaceful debate.
Do liberal, hard-left demagogues, whose hatred for President Bush has hardly ever been subdued, secretly hope for--and are hard at work toward--the assassination of the nation's second Bush president?
Funny, the rewrite was quite fitting for the Bush years, but I don't recall seeing this writer condemning such. More situational morality from the left.
If we did we would vocalize it.
