As you can see, the email gives instructions on how to RSVP for the event. They note that the event is by RSVP only, so please call 304-340-4606 as soon as possible. Many folks are planning on showing up at 9:30. Just in case not everyone gets into the meeting, a peaceful demonstration will be held at that time. The Obama administration has launched a new Web site to battle what it calls “wild rumors” about the health care reform plans being pushed through Congress — including an invitation for the public to tattle on any other “myths” they come across. It comes a week after the White House asked the public to send in “fishy” information about health care reform. The Web site, activated Monday, uses the same set-up as the “Fight the Smears” page the Obama campaign maintained last year to battle rumors seen as potentially damaging to his candidacy.

The unemployment rate rose to 6.1%, the highest level since September 2003. That’s up from 5.7% in July and 4.7% a year ago.
In addition, the economy suffered a net loss of 84,000 jobs in August, according to the U.S. Department of Labor, compared to a revised reading of a 60,000 job loss in July.
The U.S. economy has lost 605,000 jobs so far this year.
