Fox News commentator and human lightning rod Bill O'Reilly is considered one of the most polarizing and partisan talk-festers on TV or at least that's been his reputation until now. All that may change on Sunday, when the combative conservative's Parade magazine piece carried in newspapers coast to coast hits front lawns and porches all over America.
Titled "What President Obama Can Teach America's Kids," O'Reilly prefaces his essay with an assertion that few reputable sociologists would quarrel with that "the disruption of the American family" is adversely affecting millions of the nation's young people. "Our modern age presents vast challenges to children, and they need to learn lessons quickly in order to prosper," O'Reilly adds. "And who better to teach them than the President of the United States?" O'Reilly takes note of Obama's own "tough" childhood, one characterized by a nomadic single parent and bouts of loneliness. He avers that Obama's ability to turn these constraints into a life of singular achievement provides a wonderful lesson for all of America's young people. "His achievement presents five important lessons for all children," Reilly states. The five traits identified by O'Reilly traits embodied in Obama's life story are the following: Forgiveness Respect Persistence Hard work The idea that in America, anything is possible. The last lesson is especially applicable. Indeed, the list of examples proving that "anything is possible" in this country might include a certain essay published on Aug. 9, 2009. That will go down as the date when Bill O'Reilly put down his boxing gloves, disarmed his critics, lauded a liberal Democratic president, and did Fox News proud in the process. And it wasn't even Father's Day.
BOR needs to jump over to CNN. That would improve the average IQ of FOX and CNN
Perhaps we could trade him for Lou Dobbs and give Glenn BOs time slot and give Lou, Glenns slot.
BOR really pulled this one out of his ...
With the economy, corruption, and terrorism all weighing heavily on this nation, BOR decides to compliment the President on his ability to positively influence our children?: the same children that O felt had no rights as fetuses in their mother’s womb? The same children O has burdened with trillions in debt?
Sorry but BOR should think a little before being so quick to kiss O’s butt.
Did BOR mention in the article that he went to Harvard? He did, ya know......
LOLOL!! Good one!
You can be well educated and still as dumb as a rock. Like Rush said, “He’s Ted Baxter”.
That said, he is sadly ignorant on the topic of macro-economics, and has this left-leaning suspicion of businesses wanting to "stick it" to the little guy.
And, he was unforgivably rude to John O'Neill and the courageous Swift Boat Vets.
As a person who reads and writes, I'm somewhat offended by BOR's condescending "word of the day" segment. (But that's a minor annoyance.)
.
well whaddya know.....this Blarney Stone looks exactly like Obama’s ass....
*******
Maybe O'Reilly should have written the following letter to Obama instead:
"Dear Obama:
Why won't you release your 1961 Hawaii long form birth certificate and your Occidental, Columbia, and Harvard college records?
What are you scared of?
Sincerely,
O'Reilly"
.
Did you guys see the description of ‘the royal jewels’ (and other ‘things’) on Larry Sinclair’s blog?
Go to second page, about 3/4 of the way down. LOL- hilarious! That must be a sight.

I agree with your comments about

I agree with your comments about Bill O'Reilly.
I believe he really does admire and tries to help our military troops serving in the mid-east, often using his own money to do so. O'Reilly has consistently pointed out media bias and for that, he deserves some kudos. I concur with your observation that BIll O'Reilly is woefully ignorant about macro-economics and does seem to consider 'Big Oil' a villain. I'll add that, considering O'Reilly is a self-identified Catholic, his understanding of the basic tenets of Christianity is pathetic. O'Reilly infuriates me when he foolishly calls Jesus Christ a 'philosopher'.
O'Reilly tries too hard to be 'everyman', while mentioning his Harvard degree as often as he can find an excuse to do so. His political leanings seem to be somewhat to the right, but he proudly announces his 'belief' in 'global warming' (now called 'climate change'). He runs away from the 'conservative' label, probably so as not to alienate the independents in his audience. O'Reilly's ego is clearly gigantic, but he appears to realize this and often jokes about it, which tempers my natural revulsion for self-obsessed TV talkers.
I suspect that O'Reilly gives some conservatives a hard time because he wants to be seen as 'fair and balanced' and has mentioned - more than once - that he's a registered independent. I think he goes way too far when he gives demagogues such as Al Sharpton a forum. Worse yet, O'Reilly often agrees with their convoluted arguments.
I read plenty and write a little and I don't appreciate the condescension inherent in his 'Word Of The Day', either. It seems to be based on the concept that his audience needs help with their vocabulary. Many of the 'words of the day' are either arcane or antiquated and the rest are commonly used by anyone who is literate. O'Reilly doesn't appear to intend to be condescending. In my opinion, he should re-think the bit.
Bill O'Reilly is clearly a mixed bag for conservatives but he is with us more often than not so I can tolerate him and, to be frank, there are few alternatives on politically-oriented TV these days. O'Reilly's ratings are excellent, for whatever that is worth. He is justifiably proud of that fact and I can't fault him for that. TV is a tough business and he has a lot of competition, all leftist.
Well said. O'Reilly is the world's biggest ratings whore, which means he'll adopt the most braindead populist views on economics and business including his continuing absurd assertions that high gas prices are collusion by the oil companies. The guy will jump and populist bandwagon to appeal to simpletons and to keep his ratings up.
And that's what this Obama butt suckage is about--he's trying to land an interview. Again, it's all about the ratings! Truth and facts be damned!
That’s funny! Thanks...I needed that today.
Uh...not really. Not by anyone who watches talk-festers on TV anyway.
Still PROUD to say I have never and will never watch the phony. I pegged him as a phony when he was local in NYC. From what I gather he hasn’t changed. Why people watch him is a mystery to me.
Dear Leader’s numbers are plunging so our fair weathered conservative friend must change gears and save him. Why any Conservative would watch his shows and add to his numbers, I will never understand. We could use a real conservative in that slot.
That’s what his problem is. All of us here know that “education” is a concept invented by the left and is utterly useless!
BOR must be silenced!
Going to Harvard and getting a degree in humanities or liberal arts is like going to a Giorgio Armani store to buy a pair of socks and then brag about it, you could get a pair of socks from Walmart and no one would give a damn where you get them from because they are just a pair of socks.
