This woman and these kids were apparently returning from a camping trip in upstate New York when this accident occurred.
I'd be curious to know if there were any other adults in the group with them, and if so, how they got home.

OMG
I have been following this all week. She left the camp ground in the morning and drank and smoked. Where did she stop to drink and smoke. She had five kids in the car and left at 9:30 in the morning and supposedly stopped at Mcdonalds for brunch?

There was always something weird about this. I’m still not sure she was not suicidal ... I think she picked that truck to make sure the job was done.
The fact that she called her husband just before the drash and then he called the police immediately. THEN she throws her cellphone out the window.
And this was a route she “knew like the back of her hand”.

Oh my, how horrible for that family! It was bad enough before, but, to find that it was for such a senseless and avoidable reason only adds to their pain.
Prayers continue for that family.

There are a million questions here.
Who was at the campsite with her? Why did she have her brother’s children in her car while the brother was back home on Long Island. Where is her husband?
Who let this woman get behind the wheel of an automobile.

It gets even more bizarre . . .
Other reports released in the last day or so indicate that several motorists had previously called 911 to report a minivan (of the same make and color as the one involved in this accident) driving erratically all the way down Route NY-17 and I-87 earlier that day. Reports included a woman driving the minivan was weaving through traffic, passing vehicles on the shoulder, etc.
Based on the description of the route, it looks like this whole scene apparently unfolded over a distance of 60-80 miles on these highways.
