Barack Obama faces 30 death threats a day, stretching US Secret Service

Since Mr Obama took office, the rate of threats against the president has increased 400 per cent from the 3,000 a year or so under President George W. Bush, according to Ronald Kessler, author of In the President's Secret Service.

Some threats to Mr Obama, whose Secret Service codename is Renegade, have been publicised, including an alleged plot by white supremacists in Tennessee late last year to rob a gun store, shoot 88 black people, decapitate another 14 and then assassinate the first black president in American history.

Yes, I was very shocked to hear this story, and it was covered about 3 days ago here at FR, and there were many LEO’s who checked in about that story —it was North Carolina, or something, and the event was some protest against ObamaCare.

I guess most of the crowd opposed ObamaCare, and this made the SS detail pretty nervous, and for some reason they reacted in this way.

I don’t know if they had secret reasons to take this protective stance, but many on scene were puzzled and shocked, feeling that they were perceived as “the enemy”, or something.

I immediately thought about when I landed at the Lima, Peru, airport in the early 90s. We’d been all over parts of South America and everything was as normal as it could be. Not there though, with the armed guards and massive firepower.

I feel like the iron curtain my parents escaped from is closing down on us, and fast.
I was just posting on another thread about the bullet-proof glass Senator Kyl’s aides have here (in a good part of town!!), and how many doors they have to unlock just to see/talk to you. And this was a few years ago, before the peasants were really starting to revolt....

I had heard this from a friend that had a conversation with someone retired from the SS but was still in touch with people from that group. I'm sure the vast majority of them are crackpots, but I don't want to think about the rioting, etc. that would happen if someone succeeded in an attempt to take out BO. Let's make sure we vote him out of office.
