You can blow it up and visualize a K or an E. The reality is once you blow up the portion you posted and look at all the letters, there's lots of them that can be interpreted lots of ways. For example, look at the year part of date in the line under E.F. Lavender. It is 1961, but when I blow up your image it looks much more like 1901 or even 1001. Hence the K that appears in that image is simply an E with lots of JPG artifacts around and on it.
This whole incident and thread was avoidable if someone hadn't saved a poor quality image early sunday morning. The higher quality images provided no possibility for these types of errors.
