Treasury Secretary Tim Geithner said in an interview airing Sunday on ABC's "This Week" that it will take hard choices to lower the deficit "very dramatically." He said overhauling the health care system and lowering costs are keys to getting the deficit under control. Geithner was asked in the interview whether he would rule out new taxes. He said the country needs to understand the administration will do "what's necessary."

I get it. It is nessessary to lie. That explains it.
Please let this be a “Read my lips” moment for Obama.
He caught so much flack for that Joe the Plumber statement and he went out of his way to assure people that he only intended to raise taxes on those *evil* rich people.
I share your desire, but it won't happen. The difference is that Pubbies have a tendency to expect their politicians to keep such promises. The Messiah can do anything and his loyal army of willing slaves will cheer.
Raise taxes to lower costs. That makes sense only if you're a monkey wearing a suit.
I believe the Bush tax cuts expire soon and of course the Obozo has said, well, that is not a tax increase.
Meanwhile, wait till next year when those who actually have a job and pay taxes, becoming a minority, find themselves owing money due to the “tax cut” which was a reduction in withholding with no corresponding lowering of the tax rates.
We just finished a mid year review and had to increase our withholding for the remainder or we would be in a negative position.
Keep it up Barry.
It all depends on how many voters are in Obama's army of willing, cheering slaves. We'll find out shortly our fate.
AH the TAX CHEAT SPEAKS. He knows HE won’t be paying it. A-hole
This plain as day statement has been obvious to fiscal conservatives. The money these people are spending is not theirs. It comes from the economic activity of the people of this country. It will probably be a combination of higher personal taxes and higher business/corporate taxes. The people pay more out of pocket to the IRS and get hit with a double whammy when everything they buy increases in price. These people in congress promoting this spending are leeches. There are more apt descriptions for the ‘congress’. None of which can be posted without being deleted.
Right from the mouth of a tax cheat.
The HIPOCRISY of this gnat!
These bastards doubled the deficit, knowing that they would then be able to demand higher taxes. The end goal was raising taxes, while they were claiming that taxes for the middle class would not be raises.
It is clear that they want to destroy us. Period.
Of course good old Timmy won’t be paying any taxes, will he?
