I disagree. Let Sarah be herself. Remember everyone thought Slick Willy’s hick accent was a benefit to his speaking.

A little misinformation on the part of Palin to uncover a mole in her organization??

I like that idea.

True-life example, that has happened many times. I have a client and we're working on a project that has a killer deadline that can't be missed. Time is short, and there are serious problems from the client's point of view, but from mine, they're solveable quickly and lucratively if I can get the client to calm down and trust me. I myself am feeling frustrated and rushed and forget to moderate my voice, and start speakng "genuine," or being myself -- the tack you advise for Sarah with regard to her voice. The client hears shrill and hasty tones and responds, NATURALLY, with doubt and worry.

I figuratively slap myself upside the head for forgetting my valuable lessons from radio days, and subtly drop the tones of my voice, speak just a tad more slowly and certainly a little deeper and lower, and .... voila!!! TWO things happen: 1) I sound calm and confident, and 2) the client feels less worried and more confident and is more cooperative. Project gets done on schedule, and oftener than not, the client's expectations have been surpassed and they're very pleased with my service.

For women especially, when communicating verbally plays a major part in your success or failure, your voice is as important as your hair, your teeth, your smile, everything physical -- if you have bad teeth or ratty hair, you'd be an IDIOT not to have them made more presentable -- the reality is that people respond to you in a more positive way when you look pleasant. It's the same with a voice only maybe even MORESO.

Thanks for the explanation.

I'm a "Civilization" fanatic, so I never had time to try other games.

I'd like to give a shout out for the civfanatics.com website. A number of very talented gamers have added to the game by coming up with their own scenarios and modpacks that are free downloads.

Every time I download a new modpack, it's like Christmas.

That said, sauropod, I disagree with cricket about dropping the “ya’s” — it may or may not be a good idea, but it’s more a regional thing and as such is totally subjective and may actually play to her advantage, so I tend to favor those colloquialisms; but there’s nothing “subjective” about shrill, high vocal tones. They’re always harsh and negative. THAT is how Sarah needs to cultivate her voice.

I don't agree. Her voice and inflection is genuine. If the Iron Lady cultivated her voice, she comes across sounding like she's offering you tea and crumpets.

Have to say; that Maggie Thatcher's voice is not the sound of tea and crumpets. . .

. . .but rather; a genuine voice that is able to convey readily; her intelligence; compassion; and not only her Conservative values; but her steadfast leadership as well. And there nothing 'inauthentic' about Thatcher either; despite her educating her voice for enhanced public presence.

So yes; hoping Sara will cultivate her voice so as to convery more of the same as per 'Maggie'; and it is not asking her to be 'inauthentic' either. Just using her talent; to hone her communication skills.

Nothing disingenuious about it. It is using her 'smarts' however and recognizing her strengths; and finding ways to share them; and recognizing what could be - and is by some - seen as a weakness. She is all grown up now; no need to sound like a cheer-leading high schooler.

That said, I love Sarah; and want her to succeed; and while no one is pefect; there is always room for improving oneself; albeit; it takes a bit of humility and wisdom to recongnize that. Particularly when one feels a call to step out; so as to 'lead' a nation out of the wilderness.

I am a fan of Thatcher. Very much so.

And if I were running for office in England, I would follow her advice.

The USA is a different place.

Sarah is just fine, and a refreshing change from the fakes, the empty suits in DC.

Her “ya’s” show she is down to earth, but, at least to my generation, leadership requires s mature dignity, a reassuring calmness, as well as the irreproachable integrity Governor Palin naturally exudes.I agree thatshe would be wise to take down her delivery a few octaves.

We have all done things we regret in our lives. As Christ Jesus said, “Let those without sin cast the first stone”.

Sarah is refresing; and no 'empty suit' for sure; but cannot say she is doing 'just fine'; nor has the past year been 'just fine' for her or her family.

Beyond that; there is a big league out there; beyond Alaska; and women have to play it as 'women' not just sound like 'big girls' wanting to play. She would sacrifice nothing; by allowing her voice to catch up to her genuine politcal wisdom and talents.

Yes; and a few ‘ya’s’ not bad; but they blunt/round her intent; when delivering a blow. The impace is muted/softened by a ‘ya’ whether before - or after - she lands it. Open vowels do that.

I don't buy it. Why would Sarah put out divorce rumors herself? She's not that type of person.

That's exactly why people love her. She's not the type to open the sealed divorce records of a campaign opponent (as obama did earlier in his career to run unopposed). She's not the type to set up the media. Very simply, the socialists in our midst are rabid when it comes to Sarah, and no doubt someone made up a silly story and everyone jumped on it, but Sarah and her people are unlikely to be connected with the latest rumor.

I trust Sarah to be in charge of Sarah. Do you think the elitists would like her better for following their advice? I am from the south, but in my memory her voice remind me of my grandma who lived in PA for quite a while. I like Sarah’s voice.

That's all true, but her folksy way of speaking plays well in states we already own. Dan Quayle was plain-spoken and had all the right ideas, but he had this "dunce" image painted on him by the MSM and had no chance of ever getting the Presidency.
Many will disagree with me, but our #1 priority should be winning in 2012. Sarah may be better than Romney on conservative principles, but I'd rather have a candidate that can win. If I were betting right now, I think Romeny/Jindal would be our best shot of preventing another 4 years of Socialism.

" - which is better than some MSM outlets"

Anything is better than the MSM--including silence.

The contemporary U.S. "Mainstream Newsmedia" is a Propaganda Machine--spreading propaganda, disinformation, distortion, and downright lies, whose intention is the molding of public opinion and not truthfully informing the public.

And the transformation of the U.S. Free Press into a Propaganda Machine is the most dangerous event in recent U.S. history, a truthfully informed populace being essential to the functioning of representative government.

Maggie Thatcher loves Sarah; and Maggie is not an elitist. She believes Sarah could be the next 'Reagan'; but agree with her as well; that her voice needs to grow up; particularly when making her appeals to a 'nation'; and not a subtext group.

If the 'Left' is saying they want her to educate her voice; then they are not alone; but their reasons may follow more the old 'briar patch' rationale.

The LAST thing the Left wants; is for Sarah to appear stronger. . .and even more convincing; than she already is.

Almost...it’s a slang variation of “own” or “owned”.

pwned = owned. It came from a computer keyboard error where the o amd p are next to each other on the qwerty keyboard and went viral.

Similar to hugh and series.
