Wis. jury: Father guilty in prayer death case

WAUSAU, Wis. – A central Wisconsin man accused of killing his 11-year-old daughter by praying instead of seeking medical care was found guilty Saturday of second-degree reckless homicide.

Dale Neumann, 47, was convicted in the March 23, 2008, death of his daughter, Madeline, from undiagnosed diabetes. Prosecutors contended he should have rushed the girl to a hospital because she couldn't walk, talk, eat or drink. Instead, Madeline died on the floor of the family's rural Weston home as people surrounded her and prayed. Someone called 911 when she stopped breathing.

(snip)

Neumann, who once studied to be a Pentecostal minister, testified Thursday that he believed God would heal his daughter and he never expected her to die. God promises in the Bible to heal, he said.

"If I go to the doctor, I am putting the doctor before God," Neumann testified. "I am not believing what he said he would do."

As far as the jury, i don't know what instructions they were given.

IMO, many things happen outside of the norm - so no matter how much knowledge I lack or have on diabetes, I wouldn't make a judgment until I knew all the facts. I was looking for the time line since they didn't mention it in the article. How long was she sick, one day, one week, one month? Two days prior and they saw minor symptoms doesn't sound like neglect.

How many times have we heard people going to emergency rooms and they are sent home and they died. Now that's neglect! Don't see any of those doctors being convicted w/25 years over their heads.

There's more to this story, that's the only thing I'm sure of at this point.

Amen! We have nothing to fear. No chip in me either.

Trouble is, you hold yourself out as a very well trained Olympic class expert on nuts.

When the evidence suggest you have great trouble telling the difference between a nut and a pineapple.

And it’s more than a little ironic given the excellent training I’ve received as a professional nut assessor.

What amazingly rapid growth!

Learning to leave the pineapples out so quickly.

Congratulations!

LOL.

Not a problem. Nuts are the issue you see. Where as pineapples are only analogous.

I know you think that if there are aliens (as in from UFO’s) that they are demonic in nature.

If there are aliens (as in from UFO's), for the life of me I can't see how they could be anything other than demonic in nature. The Bible talks about some pretty strange stuff in the end times.

I really am truly curious . . .

what are the origins, the etiology of your convictions that someone who construes ET critters to be in cahoots with satan toward setting up the global government

would be, thereby, nuts?

What was your first thought-step down that road?

And what were the next several steps?

You're the nut.
You tell me.
Oh wait...I'm sure you will. You do seem to have an amazing amount of time on your hands. Even though your "reality testing has been scrutinized intensely for years by my classmates, professors, PhD Dissertation Chairman, supervisors, group leaders, the TRAINERS OF THE STAFF TRAINERS of the top most org/dev consulting firm in the world; . . . 3,000 hours of intense group experience . . . etc. etc.". Gosh one would think with all that apparent professional background you claim you would be writing successful books and be out on the speaking circuit instead of sitting around on FR 24/7.

Quix I'm going to be extra blunt here. You are a self-aggrandizing liar.

It’s such a joy to know that you are thoroughly wrong.

Nice dodge, BTW.

In other words . . . I’m a nut, in your eyes, because of my convictions that UFO critters are in cahoots with satan

essentially akin to folks who think that

all blacks are liberal idiots because their skin is black.

. . . essentially . . . because you just happen [most likely based on absolutely NO evidence compared to my ref’d Biblical, historical and current evidence stacks high]

. . . because you just happen to believe otherwise.

. . . because of your . . . drum roll . . . biases.

However, go on considering me a liar, if you dare. The fruit of that cluelessness will be very ugly tasting but it is at least consistent with your SOP.

Why do you keep pinging other people?
Can’t fight for yourself?

Cowardice is another bad trait you have.

Yes, I do dare.
You are a liar.

I’ve chosen to do my writing on FR.

Lots of folks have urged me to write books over the decades. It’s conceivable.

My Dissertation was 120 pages long.

Shoot collecting some of my FR pontifications into a book would be worthwhile on some topics.

Alas, I prefer to do what I do.

I have loved ones over 2-3 continents and a wide diversity of readers around the world.

I enjoy using money but it’s far from an obsession.

BTW, when you are so addictively given to forming rigid perceptions, accusations and conclusions about people . . . you really ought to learn to do it based on more than raw emotion and cluelessness. It gets embarrassing to read such cluelessness at some point.

That poor girl died a very agonizing death. Before diabetes was called diabetes type 1 was widely known as a wasting away diease because when it struck children they wasted away. The pain in her final weeks must’ve been unbarable. I speak from experince with type 1 and what it feels like to have extremely high blood sugar and what can happen.

“I’m hoping that the above is taken as an indication that I don’t like you.”

The internet is too hard for you.

You should turn it off and go out and play.

“I’m not mandating anything “bub”. We all have a right to post on any thread we like (with limited exceptions). But if you think I’m going to let this thread about some dumb ass religious fanatic who let his daughter die get hijacked by a bunch of holy rollers without comment you have another thing coming.”

If you can’t take the heat, stay out of the kitchen.

Your obvious fear that “your thread” can be so easily derailed by Christians shows how weak your intentioned attack on them is.

And yes, you have just admitted that your reason for posting this article was to get at those “dumb ass religious fanatics”.

“You’re just an old nut who sits in their recliner all day long and only gets up long enough to go to the fridge, take a dump and (rarely) get in the bathtub.”

You seem to be projecting your lifestyle onto strangers. That’s pretty bizarre.
